The trades recently confirmed that a Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) spinoff focusing on Black Canary is in the works for the HBO Max streaming service, and writer Misha Green now appears to have dropped an intriguing hint about the movie during a Twitter Q&A.
Though Cathy Yan's 2020 release proved to be divisive (critics liked it for the most part, but fans were less impressed), Jurnee Smollett's Dinah Lance was seen as one of the major highlights - even if she didn't quite resemble her comic book counterpart.
Lance donned several different outfits during the film, but none of them really so much as paid homage to her signature look in the comics. However, that might just be rectified for her next DCEU appearance.
When Green was sked if she liked biker jackets and fishnets (staples of Canary's ensemble), she responded with the following Tweet.
This doesn't confirm anything, of course, but that winking emoji could certainly be taken as an indication that Green knows more than she's willing to divulge at this time.
We still know very little about Black Canary, but Green Arrow fans are hoping Warner Bros. uses the opportunity to introduce a new version of Oliver Queen, and there are rumors that Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Huntress might also put in an appearance.
There's a decent chance we'll get an update on the project at DC FanDome next month.
