Black Adam- Review

Welcome to my first review of Black Adam. This review is the first of a series I refer to as 'Modern Movies' on my channel, which is mostly dedicated to historical films. In this review we will cover a little of the production of the film leading into a spoiler free review and then ending on a short spoiler section. Marvel has a few stumbles in their phase 4. Can the DCEU pick up the slack in their newest adventure that tries to spin off Shazam, launch a new Superhero property, and create an exciting new direction for the DCEU?

Black Adam is now in cinemas.

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods–and imprisoned just as quickly–Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Starring:  Pierce Brosnan, Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Marwan Kenzari, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell

Directed by: Jaume Collet-Serra

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, this is the worst DC film I've ever seen. And I've seen every single one of them.

At least Batman and Robin was well made and self-aware.

At least Justice League told the story of the team getting together for the first time, even if it did skip their respective origins.

At least Superman IV: The Quest for Peace... um... okay, so this one is only slightly better than Black Adam. But it is better. I'd take "Uncle Lex" over anything in Black Adam. Although Nuclear Man is pretty much on the same level as Sabbac.

Okay, how about this:
At least Nuclear Man didn't speak!

@ObserverIO - it didn’t reach that level of bad for me. I got a kick out of some of the action at least here.

First Suicide Squad on the other hand should be taught in film classes on how not to edit a movie. One of the worst films I’ve ever seen on a purely technical level.

@MrDandy - I... I'm glad you enjoyed them. But I thought they were some of the hokiest, most uninspired and actually downright boring action scenes I've ever seen.

With all the slo-mo and desaturated Snyderisms, the fact that most if not all of them were taken from other movies and the complete lack of danger or investment that comes from having a flatly written Mary Sue like The Rock's Black Adam... there were the worst that Hollywood could possibly create.
They were so relentlessly shit, it was actually claustrophic to watch them.
This movie overstayed it's welcome in the first act and just kept itself on the screen as it got worse and worse for 2 long-assed hours. It just wouldn't stop. Sloooo-mooooo actiiooon sceeeneeeeees. Poorly written dialogue. Ugh. So bad. On and on and on. It wouldn't stop being in front of my face as it droned drolly on and on and on and on...

The only truly impressive thing about this movie was just how bad it actually was.
It must've been written by an AI program (and it obviously was at least co-written by one) because I don't think even a set of the most uncreative humans could make something this bad even if they tried.
