There's now less than a month to go until Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters, and Marvel Studios has just dropped a new TV spot for the sequel.
While that's primarily made up of footage we've already seen, it also teases the impending conflict between Wakanda and Atlantis (referred to as Talocan in the MCU). While all signs point to Namor the Submariner being the movie's big bad, a new synopsis for the Black Panther follow-up has painted him in a slightly different light.
"In the film, Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death," it reads. "When Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, alerts them to a global threat and his disturbing plan to thwart it, the Wakandans band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda."
So, Namor clearly approaches the Wakandans to warn them of a bigger problem, with his extreme way of dealing with whatever that is clearly a problem for the African nation.
Don't expect the anti-hero to be too chilled out, though. During a recent interview with Total Film, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige made it clear that Namor, a.k.a. K'uk'ulkan, is a major threat to the Black Panther's home.
"How do you continue moving forward in the face of great loss and great tragedy, and in the face of a new threat, when all you want to do is maybe hide from the world, and process your grief, and a new, gigantic threat arrives that must be confronted?" the executive asks. "Which, of course, is Namor."
