William Hurt first played General "Thunderbolt" Ross in
The Incredible Hulk and he later returned in
Captain America: Civil War (a movie that ended with Tony Stark warning Natasha Romanoff that Ross would be coming after her). Now, following his brief
Avengers: Infinity War and
Avengers: Endgame appearances, he's been spotted on the set of
Black Widow.
One very interesting theory doing the rounds is that Ross will be part of a post-credits scene which will see him recruit Yelena Belova to the Thunderbolts (a team who have been rumoured to arrive on the big screen for quite a few years now). However, it seems far more likely that he'll appear in order to address Natasha's actions from
Civil War. After all, she betrayed the Sokovia Accords in order to help Captain America escape, and that's bound to play into this solo adventure in some way.
Regardless, we'll find out when
Black Widow arrives in theaters on May 1st, 2020. In the meantime, check out the set photos by following the link below:

portraits from Black Widow taken during Comic-Con!
"When something huge explodes and all the pieces are landing, you have that moment of stillness where you don’t know what to do next — that’s the moment that she’s in," Scarlett Johansson says.
"In that moment, you actually have to face yourself."
"In a way, he’s a super-soldier, but he’s also a very complicated guy," David Harbour says of Russia's answer to Captain America, Red Guardian.
"He has a lot of flaws, a lot of idiosyncrasies. It’s a very rich character." That beard is pretty damn impressive, eh?
It hasn't been released online but those attending Comic-Con were treated to a fight scene between Black Widow and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova. However, it sounds like these two have a sister-like relationship and will actually be allies in the movie.
O.T. Fagbenle describes his character Mason as "a fixer" who comes from Natasha's past and may have feelings for her. "It’s a bit of a complex relationship with Natasha because obviously, ostensibly we have this kind of business transaction, but I think there’s a little romantic frisson." The question is, could he be playing Taskmaster? That would certainly be a pretty interesting twist.
Rachel Weisz's is reportedly playing Malena in the movie,
"a seasoned spy and assassin," who has
"been cycled through the Black Widow Red Room [program] five times at this point in her life." She also plays a key role in some sort of experiement in the film.
