Black Widow is now playing in theaters (finally!) and, as per usual, we have a CinemaScore for the movie. They poll moviegoers after the opening night of a major release like this one to generate a score, and while it doesn't mean much (it certainly won't have the same impact on box officing takings as a Rotten Tomatoes score), it's a good way of judging how people have responded to a film.

In the case of this first Phase 4 movie, it's received an A-. That means it joins the likes of The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World, and Ant-Man and The Wasp

Black Widow currently sits at a "Certified Fresh" 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an "Audience Score" of 92% based on over 5000 verified verdicts.

In our review of Black Widow, we concluded by saying, "Black Widow is Bourne meets Bond meets Terminator...with two outstanding, badass female leads. Action-packed, funny, and at times surprisingly gut-wrenching, Cate Shortland's vision for the MCU is bold, empowering, and utterly unmissable."

Check out the CinemaScore announcement in the Tweet below:

Such a better film than I expected. I hope marvel continues to focus on more down to earth stories along with the cosmic and multiverse stuff.

@Godzillakartttt - I agree, I mostly enjoyed it. The floating city kinda took me out of it though. Even for what we’ve seen in the MCU, that was preposterous.

Maybe they could have used a Repo’d helicarrier instead, connect it a bit more to the rest of the MCU.

@Havenless - felt like star wars not the mcu.. like disney was trying to reference the death star in the scene of red guardian looking up at it.. because why not

A- seems right to me. I have some minor complaints, but it's certainly one of Marvel's best in my book

Feels like we've already seen that poster. Or it's just very similar to others

@TyrantBossMedia - exactly. They all look kinda similar in my opinion

Watched it again last night, this time with my bf - he said it's just out of his top 5! It remains mid-tier imo, but I may like it more than Doctor Strange after all. Surprised to see that the theater wasn't much more packed than Thursday, I wonder if the pandemic has made films more front-loaded (or maybe that's the Disney+ effect).

Regarding how Natasha could have escaped all of those vehicles and men Ross had looking for at the end of the film; the best I can figure is that there was lots of smoke and/or fog and lots of debris that could have easily hid her as she ran way. It seemed most of the vehicles past her to get on that road they turned onto, so she somewhat had a head start.

Granted, they had lots of men, but they would have had to spread them out in all directions searching for her. And I guess it would be easy to believe that her "hiding" skills are better than their "finding" skills.

But, judging from the past, enough people will ask the director and/or writer about this and they will come up with an answer.

Also, regarding the supposed re-write of who went to "the raft", maybe she, having Steve Rogers phone number, called him, picked him up, and they "both" went to the raft.
We just saw Steve as the one who personally got them out from their cells, but Natasha could have stayed up top, in the quinjet, ready to escape as soon as the others boarded it.

@LSHF - It's retcons like this that I have zero problem with. We see Cap at the end of Civil War because it was his movie and his monologue about always being there for his friends (as he was freeing his friends). Nat didn't need to literally be in frame for her to be involved.

(My personal fan-fiction for that scene at the time was that Cap had hooked up with Hope to spring Scott. Obviously that's not what they ended up doing, but if they had, it would have been a cool retcon, too.)

Retcons that add new angles to past continuity are really no big deal. Even retcon twists can be good when they're done well.

Crazy how Homecoming, Black Panther, AM&TW and now Widow's solos all jump off from the events of Civil War. And Infinity War of course, like everyone else, but it was def the most influential on it.

May as well put Civil War in those separate Avengers box sets from now on, cos its just too damn important of a movie.

Saw it last night. Wasn’t terrible, but was expecting a lot more. I’d say B- or C+ right now but id need to see again to really decide. Maybe I’m being too harsh, but the aside from David Harbour (who was amazing as Red Guardian IMO) the other humor in the movie was hit/miss and sometimes even took me out of it. Thought taskmaster was cool, even if they did change the origin it worked for this movie. Last act was messy though, just got pretty over the top and it was heading towards F&F unbelievable, when the first part of the movie set the tone of a more grounded movie. I think the last 45 min of the movie is what fell apart for me, but I was def still entertained.

@dragon316 - ???
A huge reason why movies are a success or a flop is because of reviews

It’s been like this for centuries, even before motion pictures were a thing.

Watched last night, thought it started strong then got weak. Most of the action sequences were the exact same as each other, and I wasn't a fan of the villains (was a fan of Ray Winstone, not his character).

Plus, me and my med school friends were laughing about "oh yeah, you can sever your own Olfactory nerve like that, as well as fix it that easily)

Oh, and minor thing, Yelena has a hell of a personality for someone raised to be a soulless emotionless killer

I freaking loved this movie, didnt think i would. Thought it was gonna be another Captain Marvel shitshow. I was so wrong. The trailers didnt do it justice. Really felt I was watching a Mission Impossible or Bond film. It could have used more Taskmaster and less CGI in the third act. Despite that, 9/10 for me.

@DarkDetective - almost everytime I saw a super jet it look like cgi from the 00s and the whole floating base was unneccessary, everything was so grounded before the death star

@DarkDetective - Agreed. I’m not sure why but after all the trailers we had, it really felt like a different movie than was marketed. A better movie though.
