Scarlett Johansson Speaks Out On The Chances of Black Widow Being Lost In THE AVENGERS

Recently Scarlett's S.H.I.E.L.D. counterpart, Jeremy Renner spoke out about his fears of being lost in the Cap, Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk locomotive that is The Avengers, now hear her thoughts about that same possibility for Black Widow.

According to Scarlett, Black Widow has a great storyline in The Avengers, so will she be featured more prominently than Renner or will her storyline incorporate the comic book back history between The Widow and Hawkeye? I certainly don't mind a little focus on some of auxiliary characters like those two and Agent Coulson, Maria Hill, etc., I think that could be a nice juxtaposition to what's going on with the main heroes. Of course based on the rash of comments in the Renner article, I may be alone in that sentiment.

The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures1, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is the sixth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which crosses over several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and features an ensemble cast, which includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson. In The Avengers, Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to save the world from destruction.

Development of The Avengers began when Marvel Studios received a grant from Merrill Lynch in April 2005. After the success of the film Iron Man in May 2008, Marvel announced that The Avengers would be released in July 2011. With the signing of Scarlett Johansson in March 2009, the film was pushed back for a 2012 release. Whedon was brought on board in April 2010 and rewrote the screenplay that was originally written by Zak Penn. Production began in April 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving to Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. The film entered post-production at the conclusion of filming in September 2011.

The Avengers is scheduled for release on May 4, 2012 in the United States.

widow and hawkeye need to be peripheral in this movie. i want more of cap, thor, hulk, and iron man. maybe we can see hawk and widow in a separate movie, but for this one they MUST be secondary characters.

I just want to see a lot of IM, Thor, Hulk, and Cap... I could car less about Hawkeye and BW. Some Nick Fury action is always nice and I want to see Loki tear it up along with whatever else comes with the Avengers package.

I have a feeling Black Widow's story will be about her relationship with Banner, everything I've read seems to point to her having the closest relationship with him. Maybe she will be able to calm him or help control him? Looking forward to seeing their chemistry together. I still feel cutting out Wasp and Giant Man/Ant Man was definately the right move, this movie has enough to handle as it is, and they, to me, are the most unbelievable characters when it comes to adapting them to film. Four superhumans from different films and an alien race all co-existing in one movie will be enough for non-fan audiences to handle for starters. I think Black Panther would be a great addition to the team for a sequel though. I'd like a bit of a darker hero to be added, sort of the Batman of the MCU. All the other movies so far have been much more fun and colorful in tone, Black Panther could break away from that perhaps?

Fritz: yea its called The Avengers, but at the same time there's only so much screen time and developement you can do. You can't have the entire group in every single scene. Let the bigger names sell the movie and be the whole point of the movie, and let the smaller names have the next sized role. Its just easier and makes for more drama

HAWKEYE & WIDOW will get their time to shine in the SHIELD movie, they shouldn't be at the forefront of this movie....it's gotta be more about the big four.

Like I said before regarding Hawkeye getting "lost" in the film: Good! I wish both he and Black Widow would get lost. Should have been Giant-Man and the Wasp from the very begining. The fact that they wanted two more characters but had to pull the typical hollywood bull$hit where they change something important just to leave their personal mark on it and change who those characters were pisses me off.

I said it in the other article, but it bares repeating. Renners comment was taken out of context. These articles are clearly an effort to spark some sort of negative controversy.

To those hating on the secondary Avengers: STFU! We all know that the big 4 will have the most screen time, which is fine, but you DO realize that the Avengers is a bit more than Cap, Thor, and IM right? I liked Widow in IM2 and her fight scene in it was one of the best in that film. Hawkeye is just as much an Avenger as the rest so he deserves a fair portion of development also. All I hear is QQ that you won't get AS MUCH /facepunching out of the heavy's... you sound like you would like Micheal Bay to direct. Oh yea, you same people are the same that crap on Transformers movies for that shit... /facepalm

Widow, Hawkeye, Maria Hill, and Coulson need to sit down and watch the big boys handle this movie, and in the sequel they can have some more screen time. the Avengers is the culmination of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Cap. not 4 superheroes and their token sidekicks. show the reason everyone wants to see this movie. and sadly unless Scarlet unzips the leather suit and kicks ass bare naked, she is NOT the main attraction for this movie.

Avengers role call:
1 The model of human perfection with a shield that blocks even Mjonir, the weapon of the Gods.
2 God of Thunder who destroyed even the bridge between realms and weilds one of the universes most powerful weapons
3 The richest, smartest guy on the planet with the most advanced human weaponry.
4 The most powerful green being on planet Earth, who presents a challenge even to Gods and who only fears his own power.

Shield role call:
1 Redhead with a cute butt and 2 glocks.
2 Sniper who for some reason prefers a recurve when fighting an evil God from another realm and advanced alien species.
3 Leader who has the worst eye sight of the bunch and ironically is given the rocket launcher.
4. Agent...Coleson ...and ... whatever it is that he does.

In May Im going to the theater to see Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor. Not Lara Croft, Errol Flynn, Jules Winnfield and ... Agent Coleson. Im suprised you even get your own poster for this movie Scarlett.
