Stephen Dorff Says He "Feels Bad" For The Comments He Made About BLACK WIDOW Star Scarlett Johansson

Blade actor Stephen Dorff has now walked back some of the things he said about Black Widow, particular as it pertained to the movie's star Scarlett Johansson, who he considers an "old friend."

Earlier this month, Stephen Dorff (Blade, Immortals) made it very clear that he had no interest in appearing in a movie like Marvel's Black Widow, saying he thought it looked like "a bad video game." He also stated that he felt "embarrassed" for star Scarlett Johansson, who reprised the role of Natasha Romanoff for the eighth time in the Cate Shortland-directed MCU adventure.

Now, Dorff has walked back some his comments, admitting that he "felt bad" for what he said about Johansson when TMZ caught up with him outside a restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday.

“Oh, I love Scarlett, I think that was taken a little bit out of context, but she’s a great actress,” he told the outlet. “I heard she’s gonna be a mom, so I wish her the best, and she’s an old friend of mine so I felt bad about that comment. I think that guy in England got me in a moment where I was just s–t talking a little bit and I felt a little bad by it. It happens sometimes.”

Dorff also reiterated that he's not a big superhero movie fan - though he hasn't actually seen Black Widow.

“I don’t really go to those movies,” he explained. “I liked Iron Man, I like when they go a little darker, I love the Joker... I’m looking forward to the new Batman, Matt Reeves’ film.”

As for the upcoming Blade reboot, Dorff probably won't be appearing, but he did wish his True Detective season 3 costar Mahershala Ali luck in the lead role.

What do you guys make of Dorff's comments? It does sound like that interviewer just caught him on a bad day, to be fair!

Okay so he likes a specific kind of CBM, got it. And atleast he apologizes, even when I think the excuse is only so-so.

Marvel's Black Widow, saying he thought it looked like "a bad video game."
It definitely had way more CGI than a Black Widow movie needed.

I really don't think it's a big deal what other celebrities think of comic book movies. It's like the whole scorcese thing. Who cares

@IronGenesis - I fully expect that the pandemic could have an impact on future movie budgets, but we'll see its impact on films that are being greenlit now.

@WakandanQueen - at some point you wonder if these films are too far down the rabbit hole of gif budget blockbuster to ever go back?

@WakandanQueen - i think budgets will continue to slowly climb. Every couple years there is always a new most expensive film

“Taken out of context” exactly what people say when they realise their mistake but refuse to apologise. Doesn’t really matter though Dorff, Scarlett thinks it’s okay for her to play MLK and she supports Woody Allen and Roman Polanski.
