BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Namor Breakdown Reveals The Sub Mariner's Underwater Nation

A new character breakdown for Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has found its way online, confirming that the Sub Mariner's deep-sea civilization will not be known as Atlantis.

The first trailer for Ryan Coogler's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debuted during Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, wowing fans with some incredible footage from what promises to be an emotional sequel.

The teaser gave us a first live-action look at Tenoch Huerta as Namor, and an official character description has now revealed the name of the Sub-Mariner's "hidden undersea nation."

Of course, Namor and his people come from Atlantis in the comics, but since Warner Bros. beat Marvel Studios to the punch on that mythical location with Aquaman, we figured this would be changed for their MCU debut. According to this breakdown, Namor will rule over an ancient civilization known as Talocan.

This is most likely a play on the Aztec word for paradise/heaven, Tlālōcān. In the Florentine codex, it's described as "a realm of unending Springtime, with an abundance of green foliage and edible plants of the region."

There appeared to be a clear Aztec influence to Namor and his people based on the concept art that leaked online, so this shouldn't be all that surprising, but be sure to let us know how you feel about Atlantis being switched out for Talocan in the usual spot.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11.
