We recently learned that Blue Beetle will feature two post-credits scenes, and amid some pretty outlandish rumors, we now have some details on what these stingers will actually entail.

Having not seen the movie for ourselves, we can't be certain that these descriptions are accurate, but just in case, potentially major spoilers from this point on.

Debunking recent reports that the post-credits sequences will feature John Cena's Peacemaker and a Booster Gold Easter Egg, it sounds like the scenes are going to be fairy restrained when it comes to any blatant DCU set-ups or even direct sequel teases.

The first does at least tease the introduction of an established DC Comics hero, however.

In the movie, we're told that the villainous Victoria Kord's son Ted, aka the original Blue Beetle in the comics, had vanished without a trace while conducting some kind of experiment, and is presumed dead. Then, in the first stinger, we hear a message from Ted come through (possibly from an alternate dimension?). We don't actually see his face, but he makes it clear that he is Ted Kord, and asks that if anyone can hear his voice that they let his daughter know that he's alive.

The second post-credits scene is a very brief clip from a well-known Mexican animated series from the '80s. As far as we can tell, it has nothing to do with the story and is simply a little nod to Latino culture.

So, nothing too internet-shattering, but we probably shouldn't be overly surprised that they wanted to keep this first movie - and its stingers - relatively self-contained.

"Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it," reads the synopsis. "As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab."

"When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle."

The cast also includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.

Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.
