Today at the junket for his latest film, “The Losers”, Access Hollywood caught up with Chris Evans, who we'll know as Captain America in 2011.

When reminded about the news, he jokingly said:

“Gonna be the worst thing that ever happened to Marvel."

"I’ve been down that road, hopefully it won’t be too different,” he said of wearing Captain America’s outfit, adding that he does plan to bulk up for the role.

“I lost a little bit of weight the last project I had… I’ll probably hit the gym again,” he said.

When asked about the reportedly female lead contestant, Alice Eve, he replied

“I have no idea, that’s completely out of my hands,” he said.

He's already in good shape, so if he's hitting the gym again, he should have little trouble getting into an appropriate physique by the time shooting rolls around.

@Tyler Agreed. Evans is, right now, in the same situation Hemsworth was. He just needs to bulk up a bit, and he'll be PERFECT.

Just look at his arms in that picture above! If that's him slimmed down then I have no worries about him needing to bulk up for Captain America! Great find MF! :)

This film's production reminds me of Spiderman 4 & 5's... Evans wasn't my first choice but I'm all for him - I think he'll do fine, but based on reports that have been surfacing over the past year, this film just seems extremely unorganized - Joe Johnston is coming off as a bit of a procrastinator in many ways. I know it's not all him - but still...

@himynameiszach: I can't stand Lee, most of the time, but that was even he doesn't need to be called names. I'm glad that he's accepted reality and is going with it. He's part of the CBM family, so if you wanna call him names and be rude, I suggest you reconsider, you bloody piece of troll shite.

@ Vital: No that clown they are dumping on is in fact a real troll, so that's ok. But we have seen from past experiences that it's a bad idea to throw that word around in reference to non trolls who are just annoying.

lol @ Starsaphire

Anyway think Evans has a fairly respectable attitude.
If I had to analyze it I would say that he seems to be sort of ducking the possible eventuality of being looked upon as being as iconic as the character he's playing, which is understandable. However if things play out well, there may be no way around it.
I wish that he was more into the character, but of course ultimately that that doesn't matter.

Concerning his build, I am normally kind of a stickler about that, but in this case I think he's just fine.

The only concern I would have would be that he may be actually more built than Hemsworth which wouldn't look right in some people's eyes. But either way I have a good feeling none of that will end up being an issue.

I take that first response as a completely sarcastic and genuinely funny joke. Earlier he talked about not paying much attention to the internet and press gossip, but obviously he knows there are alot of people "extremely concerned".

The more I learn/see/read about this dude, the better I like him.

We know he has a quick witt, and now he has BB, TDK, IM, IM2, IH, etc., and will have Thor and GL for reference and to build on. And he is unanimously considered the best thing about FF, which he knows sucked comparitively (he has stated something along those lines - that he "didn't like the direction it was going").

The guy, to me anyway, seems like he's cool as hell and is one of those guys who "gets it". Good sense of humor.

I am behind him all the way, and my intuition tells me it's gonna be far better than expected. My primary apprehension and concern now is Johnston. I really wouldn't sweat it too much guys (LEEE!!!) lol =)

This guy is one of those guys like Reynolds who always sticks out as a cut above, but hasn't been given a real starring role in a gigantic movie yet. He'll do Cap proud - mark my words.

agree

agree

Been thinking - you know, all they need to do is build some shoulderpads into Thor's costume/body armor, and there will be no prob.

I'm liking the idea of Chris Evans in this role more and more the more I see what he has to say.

A lot of people seemed concerned that his funny-guy persona would get in the way of his taking this project seriously, but he's so far proven himself to be very thoughtful in his responses, as well as being very honest about things, too.

Both he and Ryan Reynolds have great comic timing, something that a lot of actors find incredibly hard to achieve, so I'm not in the least bit worried about either actors' abilities to play it straight when the need arises.

I also think that, given the outline to this origin story is well established, there won't be too many surprises, script-wise, and as it's pretty much a period piece, once the cameras start rolling, there should be no shortage of set photos, unlike the veil of secrecy surrounding the Thor set. Admittedly, most of those set shots will probably be of mud and military uniforms and vehicles, but at least there'll be something for us to see.

I hope so, anyway.

Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds are the best because they are the new generation of actors. Like rapper Drake. He's just moving at a way faster pace than other artists have in the past. He's putting out maybe five, six, seven hit records. You know how hard it is for a person to have one hit? If you talk about 50 Cent on top really making hot music it didn't even last two, three, four years.
So this generation is going to start popping out talented actors like A woman that keeps constantly popping out babies.
