After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014.

Mackie is a funny dude lol.

But yeah, the Russos are right. They should just be concerned with making a great movie. What it's possibly competing with shouldn't be a concern for them.

BvS needs to be a 1+ billion hit since they have nothing else. Cap 3 doesn't care because it'll eventually gross what it deserves to gross. Marvel making it the sacrificial lamb is pretty brilliant since it'll take a huge enough chunk on BvS' potential box office earnings.

aka BvS will move.

This is ridiculous. Captain America, arguably one of the least liked characters in the MCU (but my favourite) going up against the 2 biggest superheroes of all time in a movie that is one of the most anticipated ever from both fans and general audiences. Cap may injure BvS but BvS will murder cap.

But one will obviously move.

Marvel must be really confident in CA:TWS to put its sequel up against Superman/Batman. But by all accounts, it's one of the best CBMs to date, so...

That's right Dc. Stay professional. Even though both studios are immature about this. Marvel arrogant behavior and Dc setting the same release date.
MrCBM56
MrCBM56 - 3/20/2014, 11:55 AM
But in all seriousness, if BvS and Cap 3 both keep the dates. BvS will win at the BO. No doubt.

What is the point of this? We all know one of them is going to move.

Now we're about to find out how many imbeciles get sucked into this nonsense.

Batman versus Superman is already off to a bad start. At least Cap has a directing duo I trust.

MrCBM how is Marvel being arrogant staying with the date they picked first? Batman versus Superman is arrogant for setting there movie on that date Marvel had already reserved.

This would never happen, but I think it would be funny if the studios did a pretend feud with each other, ala Nostalgia Critic and Angry Video Game Nerd. Like, maybe have a video of Evans as Cap fighting Affleck as Batman, with Mackie as Falcon and Cavill as Sups coming in to help. Would be some good PR for both movies lol

Setting a same release date isn't being arrogant. A dick movie, yes. But not arrogant. Marvel on the other hands... Their comments and reactions speak for itself.

flame wars are only on internet threads and are between people that have nothing to do with the production of the actual product...

What this was, was employees for an opposing company being competitive..

If any one has the right to, these guys do...

f*ckin love it....I hope it has a little more back and forth before may 2016

If this was 10 years ago I agree Batman/Superman would have wiped the flaw with a Captain America movie.

However, Captain America has since become an A-level character - and Marvel as a company have become a marketing giant. If The Winter Soldier is really successful (i.e. critically acclaimed and makes close to a billion), I think it's sequel could actually win this fight.

Marvel is going to be sucking some sour lemons when BvS makes big money. And I've got nothing against Marvel, I love 'em. But they should know that you should never talk a big game like THAT. You always have the possibility of being knocked on your ass.

But in all honesty, sure, marvel has an amazing track-record with their films, but it's not like DC is releasing Green Lantern 2 in 2016. It's Batman vs Superman. The equivalent to Marvel releasing Captain America vs Iron Man. So they should ease up with the tough talk. Because I tell you, they will look like such dumbasses when Batman vs Superman makes a huge sum of money.
rockerdude22
rockerdude22 - 3/20/2014, 12:07 PM
TBH, I just hope both movies end up being great! Making a lot of cash is cool and all, but I'm more concerned with the quality of the films.
