Sounds like cool features but I'm still buying the cheapest DVD with like one feature like I did with Thor.

He states: "The USO suit was a respectful nod to the original version of the comic book suit".

What the hell has he been smoking? Joe Johnston tried to make it a laughing stock joke. Johnston even said it would look too rediculous, so he made a joke out of it. Funny think is, without the purposely made silly looking cowl, it actually looks alright. If they would have stuck with that design and armored it up a bit for combat it would have looked awesome. For sure much better than that piece of hockey padded crap they ended up going with.

Oh, and it's supposed to be the 1940's. That suit looks far too modern. Fail.

Sorry, Man. I have to disagree with you. Considering that TFA came out at the end of the summer and in the wake of huge established movie franchises like Transformers and Harry Potter it performed very well. I hope that Marvel/Disney decide to release Cap’s sequel early in 2013. If anything, Xmen First Class was a failure. It did $350 Mil worldwide the worst performing X men to date. Plus, it was shitty movie.

Also, I say this with all do respect to you but you truly believe that First Class was good? Trust me, I want wanted it to be good be it wasn't even average IMO. The X Men movies already have an established movie fan base and it had glowing reviews (which I think were bought and paid for) and all it can do is $146 mil domestically and $352 mil world wide. Cap did $176 mil domestically and $362 worldwide. I’d say that Cap did pretty darn good for its first time out.

I dislike the smugness of these people. If they'd put as much effort into making the "unadulterated" suit as they did into making [frick]ing generic kevlar crap, it would have worked. These people have neither courage nor imagination.

Ginga! Haha! If you don’t mind may I use that in describing that guy from now on? I like it! If I recall correctly that Ginga was doing the same thing to TFA by showing clips from the 1970’s movie of Cap and that Fruitcake Jimmy Fallon ripped on Cap at every opportunity.

Anyway, to answer your question, no, I don’t think it would have done any better with good reviews. And to prove my point may I offer you X Men First Class. FC had nothing but glowing reviews and it only took in $146 Mil in the U.S. It couldn’t even match its production budget of $160 mil. Now Cap on the other hand took in $176 mil with a budget of $140mil. And I disagree with you that Cap needed to be the biggest CBM of the summer. It did well enough to justify a sequel that’s for sure but Cap has a huge handicap to it when trying to market him to the rest of the world because he’s viewed as an American patriot which I’m sure doesn’t interest too many folks around the world, yet it took in 186 million overseas. I think that's good, I bet the next movie will do better at the Box Office.

Truly shocked that you see no difference in TFA and GL. Yep, I also agree with you on the first Xmen. Later.

Thank you GuruGeorge. That was EXACTLY my point. Johnstone had said in an interview during the filmmaking process (posted on this site) that he felt the original suit would look silly on the big screen and that he was going to use it in a comical fashion in the USO bit. A filmaker to me should be someone with a less closed mind than that, and a bit more creative. That costume COULD have been reworked into a VERY believable, yet still faithful version of the original. Even the cloth only version he wears on stage looks pretty good without the silly cowl. If he would have allowed the costume designers to work with that design it would likely have been much better than that padded brown and silver strap coverred turd they dressed him in.

@Kirbyfan. That was my one of my two other complaints on this film. Raimi gave us a Spider-Man that displayed his fighting prowress. The scene with the muggers going after Mary Jane in the rain is the perfect example with Spidy backflip tossing the thugs around. Johnston did NOTHING to show Caps acrobatic fighting ability. All he did was punch, straight kick, and leap forwards. Not one friggin acrobatic move in the whole film.

My only other complaint was that Johnston was too busy making Cap look silly with that USO crap, when he should have been telling us the story of how General Philips had Rogers trained by the best in hand to hand combat and military strategy. We never got the feeling that Steve Rogers was transformed into a master of hand to hand combat and military strategy and the type of guy who walks into a room with a commanding presence. It was still skinny Steve Rogers with muscles and a shield.

Fix these three things and that film is absolutely perfect.
