20 years ago, a group of artists left Marvel Comics to create their own company, a company that continues to influence mainstream comics and culture to this day. Image Comics began as more than just a publisher — it was a response to years of creator mistreatment, and it changed comics forever.

The Image Revolution will tell the story of Image Comics, from its founders’ work at Marvel, through Image’s early days, the ups and downs of the ’90s, and the publisher’s new generation of properties like The Walking Dead. We will tell the company’s story through new interviews with the people who made it happen. And what better time than during Image’s 20th anniversary to make this documentary?

Directed by Patrick Meaney; director of photography, Jordan Rennert; produced by Jordan Rennert and Patrick Meaney; executive producers, Julian Darius and Mike Phillips; in association with Respect! Films.

Looks promising..... I hope they delve honestly into the reasons Liefeld was forced to leave; it will be interesting to see how that hack tries to spin that.

Too bad it's a documentary.
If it was fictional,the writers could make everyone happy by ending the film this way..

Rob Liefeld gets in a horrible car accident because he was "drawing & driving" .
He doesn't die but his hands,eyes & mouth are all surgically removed.
Not due to injury,just because that assbag shouldn't use them anymore.
He should not draw anymore,see any comic material or talk about comics..he sucks!

Yep,Liefeld deserves all the criticism he gets..& more.
Not only is he the least talented of the Image founders,he's also the least talented in comic book artist history.

The least talented in every 2nd grade art class in the world.
Amazing how he's achieved some measure of success.

What baffles me is the enormous fan following Rob Liefeld not only had, but still has to this day. Every con I go to there is always a group of guys gawking at Rob's work and talking about how awesome he is. I just shake my head and walk away. Hell, Rob was at this year's NYCC and lo and behold, he had a crowd of people waiting to meet him.

Wow I could not disagree with this comment more. there was a time Liefeld was considered one of the best. And Ive seen MUCH worse art than his. Now Im not saying I like his art... but ive seen much worse.

And while your at it... you shouldve just wished he'd lose his feet in the accident since his drawings indicate feet obviously arent important

I don't really get the use of "mistreatment" in the intro. They were paid well for their work by the big two. Marvel actually kissed all the way up to McFarlane's large intestines to please him.

If you want argue about the unfair nature of the pre-1980s era, thats fine, but this is a puff piece at best. In fact, Creator owned comics were a decade old when those guys decided to go their own way (their legal right). However, this propaganda piece ignores Pacific, First Comics, Eclipse, Dark Horse and other smaller publishers if you want to be factual. Ironically, Lee doesn't seem to mind working for DC right now.

Ultimately, there is room for both.

Liverpool4life - Yes they were getting paid well, but I think their issue was that the companies were making massive amounts of money off of their creations. They felt like they deserved royalties or a portion of the profits as well.
If you think in terms of Actors or Sports stars, they make more and more money from their performance, the actors make more money from how many fans they bring in, but they are also offered residuals, commission like points etc.
I can see both sides actually. On one side you do sign contracts but on the other you should be rewarded if you bring in more fans than the other guy
