DC Comics has announced that a limited number of comic books will be published on Tuesday, April 28th. After surveying 2000 North American stores, the publisher reached out to different printers (Diamond won't re-open until the end of May), and decided to release a reduced number of titles.

Those will debut simultaneously on digital platforms, and the first new issues set to be released include Daphne Byrne #4, The Dreaming #20, and Batman Giant #4

On Tuesday, May 5th, there will be a larger selection with Batman & The Outsiders #12, The Flash #753, The Green Lantern Season Two #3, Hawkman #23, House of Whispers #20, and Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity #4. Then, on May 12th, we'll be able to read Harley Quinn #72, Justice League #44, Justice League Odyssey #20, Lois Lane #10, and Metal Men #6.

Batman writer James Tynion IV, meanwhile, has taken to Twitter to tell fans that DC Comics is planning to release Batman #92 in June. "Just got the go ahead to let all of you know that we're holding Batman #92 back for a June release, so we can make sure to get it to as many of you as possible on its release day," he said. "I am very, very excited for you all to read it!"

Marvel Comics has yet to comment on what their plans moving forward will be, but it's definitely exciting to think that DC titles will be available again as soon as the end of this month!

The response from some retailers hasn't been overly positive thus far, but it's easy enough to see why DC is heading down this route. We'll keep you guys updated as we learn more.

This won't work, if some of your old school comic shops don't have an online service, you know buying straight off the rack and they are shut how are they going to sell these issues.

Another thing did you know that comic shops have cancel their orders with diamond and reorder them by Monday to receive these issues.

The two distributors that are shipping these comics are owned by Midtown comics and another one, that I can't remember at this moment in time.

Also how many people are crying out for these issues, I only read Daphne Byrne, Joket/Harley Criminal Insanity out of those listed and who wants a Batman #89 3rd printing because that's being released as well.

Sounds like those shops need to catch up with the times. Or just wait. Everything will be fully reopened in a month. But theres no good reason to punish the open shops, mail subscribers, and digital readers just because some brick n mortar shops can't make it work.

I don't care about that Batman Designer story, but I really need to read Hawkman!

All the comic shops near me permanently closed in March, no chance of them re-opening at all in any form. The owners have just given up, faced with almost a decade of decreasing quality in stories and decreasing sales. No chance this will somehow revive a dead industry.

Anyone want to join forces and start a distribution company to take on the monopoly called Diamond?!

@Philvis - Ever wonder why there aren't any small companies trying to compete with Diamond?

Same reason nobody wants to "compete" when I'm making people hot drinks.

It's just easier if one person does it. And since there's not much money in it, it's nice of them to do it.

I wouldn't want to deal with multiple distribution companies if I were a retailer.

Diamond are basically doing a big shop to get the groceries in for the older people in their neighborhood.
(That's us. We're the old people).

It's comics. It's niche. They're doing the community a favor.

@GwenLantern - I was going to pony up at least $200 for this venture.

@GwenLantern - They're a monopoly and if they fall apart or fail the entire industry falls apart which is the reason just one company shouldn't be in charge of everything. There should be multiple distribution companies because if one fails it won't affect the entire system. You don't build a chair with one leg.

@noahthegrand - What if it's a really big leg?
No, I get you. S'a good point.

@Philvis - lol

@Philvis - Not me! That would be like investing in Blockbuster video. Now if you want to start a new digital site to rival Comixology, that could be lucrative.
