This July, Marvel will for some reason celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Marvel Universe from way back when Fantastic Four #1 was released in 1961. Where will our favourite heroes be then? We'll find out in 100th Anniversary Special – Guardians of the Galaxy by Andy Lanning and Ron Marz with art from Gustavo Duarte and a cover by David Lopez, 100th Anniversary Special – Spider-Man written by Sean Ryan with the artwork and cover by In-Hyuk Lee, 100th Anniversary Special – X-Men by Robin Furth with art by Jason Masters and a cover by Jason Latour, 100th Anniversary Special – Avengers with James Stokoe pulling triple duty as writer, artist and cover artist, and 100th Anniversary Special – Fantastic Four is by Jen Van Meter and artist Joanna Estep. This year is the 75th anniversary of Marvel, but they're apparently doing these because...well, because they think it's a cool idea! What do you guys think?

Scarilian: No, this article was read by a moron who can't figure out basic information. This year is the 75th anniversary of Marvel. It will be the 100th anniversary of the modern Marvel Universe with the release of Fantastic Four #1 in 1961 in 2061. All there, all easy to understand.

Scarlian: No, as it quite clearly states above, these stories have NOTHING to do with the 100th anniversary of the creation of Marvel. They are to do with the birth of the modern Marvel universe in 1961's Fantastic Four #1. Here's a direct quote from Newsarama, who were actually at the panel this was unveiled at: "As expected, the issues/specials that make up the five-issue weekly series will be set in the Marvel Universe in the year 2061, 100 years after the start of the modern-day Marvel Universe in 1961’s Fantastic Four #1." Get it?

Put that in your article next time then rather than just sprouting tons of tons of listing of anniversaries without clarifying which you meant. In your 'teaser' you list 2061, then you list that as the 100th anniversary then you state marvel is celebrating its 75th anniversary without clarifying whether you meant the founding of the comics or the creation of the universe.

As for the idea itself, it makes no sense and sounds retarded - celebrating the 100th anniversary in advance rather than focusing on celebrating the 75th anniversary of the comics they are at.

As for the images, the only image that looks like it had effort was the second image with Spider-man. Though the image with Spider-man makes no sense with a random fat guy (Kingpin?) as Venom with random Shocker power gloves with Raimi-verse Peter Parker re-enacting the death scene of Harry from Spider-man 3 with a Harry Osborn that features the hair from the TASM2 Harry...

This is confusing and pointless. So Marvel is celebrating the 100th year anniversary way too early but the comics are set 100 years after their launch which at the same time doesn't make any sense to continuity?

On top of this, most of the art is mediocre imo.

Its just very confusing;

- Comic released on 75th anniversary of Marvel/Timely founded in 1939 (2014)
- Promoting 100th anniversary of release of first comic (Fantastic Four #1)
- Despite 100th anniversary of Marvel/Timely Comics (2039)
- To tell 5 weekly issue stories
- With these stories set 49 years in the future (2061)

It doesn't make much sense even when simplified from a business standpoint.

sourpatch very good mate i personally think it would be cool if the real universe started using real time and then there was a definitive end but theyll never do that it is truly a never ending battle sure yoou get future stories but thats very much subject to change theyll never move twards that future until the gap is filled

Cool. Not sure what is so confusing about the modern day era starting in 1961+100 years after that start=2061. Seems fairly clear to me in the description. I guess some process things differently.

To be honest, the article is fairly confusing. All one long paragraph, no line breaks, and the info is jumbled...
