The premise of All-New X-Men is a simple one. Sort of. The original five X-Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Angel, Beast and Iceman) arrive in the present in a new ongoing series by Brian Michael Bendis (Avengers) and Stuart Immonen (Fear Itself). Why they're here and what exactly they have planned is unknown, but the series definitely has a lot of potential. Thanks to Marvel.com, we have a first look at Stuart Immonen's inked pencils from the first issue which goes on sale as a part of the Marvel NOW! relaunch this November.

ALL-NEW X-MEN #1
Written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
Pencils & Cover by STUART IMMONEN

It’s a blast from the past as the original five students of Professor X – Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Angel and Beast – are plucked from the past and brought to the present. But what they find, the state that their future selves are in and the state of Xavier’s dream, is far from the future they dreamed of. And how will the X-Men of the present deal with their past coming crashing forward?

While I find his clothing a little bulky, Beast looks pretty damn cool.

Beast looks cool there. So I guess Cyclops lives though AvX? I guess it's Emma who dies. Because isn't that Cyclops up there? Not sure myself.

Ok, if this is them from the past, why do they not remember going to the future and seeing this? It really annoys me when they do time travelling stories, there is always a massive plot hole in them. Hope they figure out how to plug this one!

At least they have feet!!!

The fact that they don't remember shows that either there is a memory loss plot device somewhere or these Xmen don't grow up to be the 616 Xmen we know for some reason.

A Cat? A Dog? A Thundercat? Well, I'm going to throw in my hypothesis and say he looks a little more closer to a Werewolf. Due to his ears, the fur and his hands are rather oversized. Though, I have always been a big fan of Beast. Wish he had more of an impact these days in comics.

But is Beast still gay? Cuz that might really trip out his past self.

I think Morrison was a fan of the Beauty and the Beast television show with Perlman, reminds me of a blue Vincent. Would be glad if he can at least regain his ape-like appearance, if not human again...maybe with the help of younger Beast. Still, looks great here.

The concept for this series sounds like it might make for a fun mini series, but as an ongoing I don't think it will work. They have to back eventually. Unless they are planning on rewriting some X-Men history, this will be pointless and probably full of plot holes.

Man, Stuart Immonen is just the best there is at what he does. Marvel should sign him to a 20 year exclusive contract and then get out of his way. Godlike!

@ralfinader yo, where's that interview where Bendis said that we will see present Cyclops & Wolverine react to Jean from the past?
