You can buy this comics for $2.99 or $3.99 on Marvel.com. So I agree with @hellsboy. What's the point?

Yeah this is a jab at DC's New 52, Which DC needed desperately. Marvel? Not so much. Only thing they needed to do was seperate their freaking teams, Wolverine is with the X-Men people. The Thing is with Fantastic Four. Spider-Man flys solo. And Captain America does not need to wear Football Gear. And the biggest thing Marvel needed to do, more than anything else. RID OF THE HERO vs. HERO!

But no, now we have Hulk wearing Pearl colored armor, Cyclops with a freaking X on his eyes (Which is quite stupid considering his eyes are not within the X, how does he shoot an optic blast?), and a couple of utterly asinine things as such... WTF?

Now hear me out, and this is just me and my long-time opinion. Fire your Editor-in-Chief, Marvel. Fire Joe Quesadilla, and restore Marvel to the way it was and was forever meant to be: The best in the industry.

Also, why is Wolverine hairless and of the same size as Cyclops and Cap?...

Oh wait, I know why, Quesada drew it...

People are always gonna compare DC and Marvel. Oh, look Marvel is copying DC with the Number One's.
Actually the only reason they are doing number ones is so people can jump on from the beginning. They aren't starting over with origin stories like DC did. DC did that cuz they can't come up with anything new and original. Now I am not saying Marvel is completely original either but at least they're writers do try to do the stories a differently.

Also, to those criticizing or questioning the way the characters were drawn in the picture. That is just one artists interpretation of the characters. Probably trying to give them a more modern look. Unlike some DC characters that look like they were drawn in the 50's and have never changed. If you ask me Cap's suit needs some upgrading. Pirate boots aren't in style anymore, don't think they ever were.

Quesada isn't E-i-C, he hasn't been for nearly a year. And he saved the company from bankruptcy, last time i checked.
Marvel DOES need this relaunch, publishing sales are suffering across both Marvel and DC, and the success of the Avengers movie makes it the perfect time.
Super soldiers need armour. Hulk needs the armour to help control/track himself, since he's a SHIELD agent.
Also the majority of the relaunch so far has been stellar.
Fantastic Four and FF, Avengers, Avengers Assemble, Cap, Uncanny Avengers, Deadpool, Hulk, Journey into Mystery, Thor & All-New XMen have been great reads. I even really liked XMen Legacy with Legion, just cus its something different.

@ ManOfSuperguy

this isn't a reboot like what dc did, marvel's history is still there dc wiped theirs clean.

daywalker1623 - 12/8/2012, 6:39 PM
@ManofSuperguy You are right that Marvel noticed the success of DC's New 52. But they are not doing the exact same thing as DC. I would to also note that the New 52 was a bit of a fad in that after a few months DC started cancelling some of the titles because they weren't selling anymore. All it is, is a ploy to get readers interested. It worked for DC and it will probably work for Marvel.

Both companies however need to be careful with how they treat the talent though because we have already seen people like Brubaker, Rucka, Straczynski leave the big two or say they are leaving. Because honestly there are a lot of fans that stop reading titles because the talented writers are leaving and are replaced with newbies.

I'd like to see marvels accounting line…

Would you be able to justify lower online costs for comics?

You eliminate shipping, printing costs, materials…

As opposed to servers

@daywalker1623: too right, it seems like Marvel have signed up a lot of the writers for the longhaul, at least a year or possibly two. These days, that's forever. They wouldn't do that unless the writers submitted a planned outline for the series going forward, and its approved.

Very different from what DC have done, with Superman being written without knowledge of what's going on in Action Comics, or constant editorial changes every month.

One thing i love is the strengthening of 70's characters over the last ten years. Luke Cage and Iron Fist being prime examples. same with Carol Danvers, Spiderwoman, Guardians of the Galaxy. Its wise to invest in great properties, they were sitting un-used on the shelf for too long.
Shang Chi on Avengers....BRILLIANT!

A Luke Cage/Iron Fist book NEEDS to happen, it seems like various writers have hinted at it eventually coming back. Nowadays, it'd own!
daywalker1623
daywalker1623 - 12/8/2012, 7:44 PM
@xcrementus in the New Avengers we've been seeing Luke Cage gradually lean toward leaving the Avengers. In the last issue he is finally gone but when asked how he's going to make money he said he will be doing Hero's for Hire. So, that could be a hint at a possible future title and of course Iron Fist will always help Luke.

WOW! I can just imagine how thick that bad boy would be.

Like other people have pointed out, it is a waste of money because it's only the #1 issues you're getting. It's much more cost-effective to go buy the #1 issues individually.

That's still cool Marvel did that though.

oldnoname - 12/9/2012, 1:39 AM
No thank you. I don't read or like nearly enough marvel to justify this.(I might get superior Spiderman though)

Not that I'm picking sides or anything but it does seem a little like what dc did but that stuff always happens with DC/Marvel.

@marvel72 1,120 pages? I don't have the Watchmen graphic novel, but that is crazy to me!

That X-Men omnibus sounds awesome though.

ALOT of peeps here lookin a lil bit butt mad... Why not just accept the fact that Marvel is moving forward and choosing to add more readers other than the die hard fans. New fans will love these series and old fans should be happy that titles theyve read for years can be enjoyed by a new generation. That and its a little thing called "running a business" and when you run a business you need to change with the landscape of your target audience. Thats how things like the New 52 and Marvel NOW! happen. Whether or not we like it is a matter of opinion however no one can deny the fact that at the end of the day the comics we love are part of a larger corporate machine and these machines run on 2 money and publicity. By constantly complaining you make more and more people want to look and see if the product really is as bad as critics say. As they say "Bad publicity is good publicity, but NO publicity is bad publicity."
