COMICS: Marvel Set To Finally Release DAREDEVIL: END OF DAYS

Originally announced at the New York Comic-Con in February 2007, Daredevil: End of Days will finally be released this October. The series (from Brian Michael Bendis, David Mack, Bill Sienkiewicz and Klaus Janson) tells the story of the death of the Man Without Fear.

Yesterday, Marvel revealed plans to finally release Daredevil: End of Days, from writers Brian Michael Bendis and David Mack, with Bill Sienkiewicz and Klaus Janson on art. The series takes place roughly 10 years in the future and The Marvel Universe is a very different place according to Bendis. "We get a glimpse of what the Marvel Universe could look like if everything goes to hell," he reveals. "Very specifically, how the world of Daredevil has changed...including Daredevil's very public murder." The reason for the delay of the book is simply down to the fact that those involved have been so busy with other projects.

"This is the quintessential Daredevil story," adds Sienkiewicz when asked about the significance of the series. "The way the future is being portrayed -- it's entirely of a piece. The city is its own character as well and everything about it has the Daredevil stamp all through it. It's very much its own thing and of its own world. The idea of actually going back and doing a mean-streets-Scorsese version of Daredevil with all the characters we know, love and loathe ups the excitement level as a fan."

So, if Daredevil is dead, just whose point of view will this story be told from? The answer is Ben Urich, as he tells his final story for the Daily Bugle. However, he won't be the only well-known character who turns up. "One of the panels that made me most excited was Klaus and Bill's panel of old Nick Fury," says Bendis. "If you want to see Elektra violent soccer mom, this is the book..." Fans should also expect to see appearences from The Punisher, Kingpin and Bluuseye. "You see who did it," the writer adds. "You see who did it and how they did it." To read more comments from everyone involved with the project, click on the link below.

Does anyone truly die in the Marvel Universe?

So is this kind of going to be Daredevil's The Dark Knight Returns? Except he actually dies? Sounds interesting

Shweeeeet. Bendis is iffy at times, but he's never let me down on Daredevil.

first off... "could" look...

So.. it's basically a "what if" story.. stretched out, right?

And surprise, Bendis, killing someone. What a shocker. Oh right, that's his shocker tool to use.

So Musashi obviously didn't read the article.

Yes, people do die in the Marvel Universe when its an out of continuity story.

This sounds like its in the same vein as all those "The End" comics that Marvel put out a few years ago that showed the final stories of a lot of their characters.

This sounds awesome, I must say.

David Mack is an animal but Bendis just likes to service his own ego by demanding stuff of the studio

You know, I've heard very varying opinions when it comes to Bendis's runs on almost anything... but from what I recall, it's been nearly unanimous with the fanbase that his run on Daredevil was among the greatest of all time.

So I'm getting the feeling that this series may just redeem him in the eyes of the masses.

@ atomicchipmunk

They did X-Men, Fantastic 4, Hulk, and Punisher that I know of. I'm sure there are some others. All with the heading "The End".

It was a line they did a few years back. They were pretty cool.

This could be a cool story but I think Daredevil is kind of a tired character. Put him on the shelf a few years and bring him back.
