Is this the end for Peter Parker? Well, whatever happens in this December's issue #700 of The Amazing Spider-Man is such a big deal that Marvel are bringing the series to an end (presumable to relaunch a new #1 as a part of Marvel NOW!). Check out the solicitation details after the jump!

Amazing Spider-Man has been in the triple digits since issue #500, but it looks as if Peter Parker is set to be another victim of Marvel NOW! as the current Amazing Spider-Man series comes to an end in December. Dan Slott has previously said that the events of the issue are so monumental that he will have to go into hiding once it goes on sale. While he's been spotted in various Marvel NOW! images, could they be planning to KILL off Spider-Man? Well, seeing as Doctor Octopus knows his secret identity, something BIG is definitely coming Spidey's way this Christmas...

They're not going to kill him off, he's been in Marvel Now promo art. Maybe Aunt May gets killed off? And perhaps Peter's identity is revealed? If that happened, would it break Mephisto's One More Day spell thingy and put Peter and MJ back together?

I think this is a good move. a relaunch should get new readers, spider-man should be marvels number 1 seller. there is no reason it shouldn't be selling more than batman

LMAO. It's funny a year ago a lot of Marvel fans were talking shit about DC and the New 52.

Anyway. It is what it is. It sucks that Spiderman will be back to 1, it sucks Detective Comics, Action Comics, XMen and so for...but shit it's probably for the best. Don't hate it just embrace it and it will succeed

Yeah, new #1 (to be returned to original numbering after issue 75 lol) Spiderman is like the moral center of the Marvel U, so he'd not going anywhere again.

Morbius needs a new look.

@Supeshadowbat - Not a reboot because unlike the DCnU nothing is erasing what's come before. if anything it's just a new status quo. New team rosters, new teams, new threats, but not starting over from the beinning. Marvel has always been good about that, they will retcon stuff but they have rartely just said "This never happened" except One More Day/Brand New Day.

"another victim of Marvel NOW" - perfectly put. I'm starting to resent this more & more since they've decided to END Uncanny X-Force. Yes, I know it's going to continue with another team, but it's not gonna be what I fell in love with. And I've always hated the reverting back to #1. Because when the 800th issue of Spiderman rears its head they're going to go back.

Great, hopefully he can get relaunched and find out One More Day never happened. Because IMO that ruined him. Such a great character that was growing in Civil War until One More Day came and ruined it all. :\ Oh well. Looking forward to the relaunch! :)

the avengers,the uncanny x-men,fantastic four,daredevil,thor,captain america,iron man,x-force & the incredible hulk all couldn't do it.

With two more movies to go there is now way they will kill Spider-man. As for the renumbering I just think they are catering to the growing populace who can't count in triple digits.

I stopped reading Spidey after One More Day. The only way I will ever read anything of the character again is if the deal with Mephisto is reversed and Peter and Mary Jane are married again.
