Witness new stories of the Thor from each era as well as the untold origin of one of the God of Thunder’s greatest foes! Plus, before THOR #1 hits in October, be there when the new Thor makes her thunderous first appearance inside this epic, oversized issue!

First, it’s Young Thor vs. the Frost Giants as Jason Aaron and artist Simon Bisley (2000 AD) tell you a tale the brash, youthful God of Thunder as he wields his enchanted battle axe Jarnbjorn against the worst Jotunheim has to offer! Then, Aaron reteams with his artistic collaborator from Scalped, R.M. Guera, to bring you the blood-soaked origins of one of the God of Thunder’s most maniacal villains – Malekith the Accursed! Witness the untold origin of the ruler of the Dark Elves as he cuts a bloody swath across the Ten Realms in his rise to power and prominence!

Finally, as the Thor of today deals with the startling fallout of Original Sin, fast forward to the future as Aaron and blockbuster Thor: God of Thunder artist Esad Ribic bring you a new tale of King Thor and the Girls of Thunder. Deep in the halls of Asgard, Thor’s granddaughters have uncovered a startling secret chapter of Thor’s past. A secret long since buried. Who is the new God of Thunder and why was her existence kept secret?

Be there when one chapter in the God of Thunder’s life reaches its end…and another begins. No fan can afford to miss out on the epic, oversized THOR: GOD OF THUNDER #25 when it thunders its way into comic shops and onto digital devices this September!

The plot of Thor: God of Thunder should be saved for a possible 4th film I think.

Simon Bisley now there is a name i haven't heard in a longtime.i own a signed copy of Judgement on Gotham Batman vs Judge Dredd by Alan Grant,John Wagner & Simon Bisley.

Three signatures,must be worth something.

Esad Ribic is currently my favorite artist,he can do no wrong in my eyes.

Wasn't he supposed to be a woman now?
and why does his hair look almost like a super saiyan in some of the pics?

@GoldSlayer1

Most of the panels here show Thor in his early days during the Viking conquests, plus hes not getting a sex change into a woman, some one else is taking up Mjolnir instead of him.

So Thor is a title bestowed on someone who wields Mjolnir now?

Best Marvel solo right now. Most Marvel books are OK at best, but there's a few that stand out : THOR GOD OF THUNDER, DAREDEVIL, HAWKEYE.

THOU MUST READ THOR

I love how they mixed all three Thors into one in this image.

The Thor films looked so crisp and clean cut.
They should be gritty and aggressive just like those covers!

The MCU don't know what to do with Thor. That's why I am convinced that WB and WETA with either Jackson or del Toro at the helm should do the next Thor film.

@Ramiel

They damn sure didn't know what to do with Thor. Why the hell would they make him an alien who uses advanced tech? Rubbish.

The Marvel U knows exactly what to do with Thor, and the last few years have been more interesting than anything since Simonson's 80s run.

But yeah, the Marvel Cinematic U has no clue. They still think they're telling a love story. Jane Foster really needs to bite the bullet. She makes Thor look like a weakling.
@goldslayer
It's always been that way. It even says it on the side of the hammer. I believe this will mark the third time a woman has taken up the hammer and power of thor.

um, because he is an alien with advanced tech.

@ NitPicker

Because its like that in the comics. The only difference is that in the comics they use advanced tech and magic. They are also both gods and technically aliens. The problem with the MCU is that they are downplaying the magic and god part.
NitPicker
NitPicker - 8/23/2014, 7:07 AM
@rabid

But its like they are trying to downplay the fact that they are gods. How many times has one of the characters said "But we aren't gods." or something like that? Bullshit.

Also, they don't use advanced technology. They use magic. Thor is fantasy/mythology, not science fiction.

Yes, that's the problem. They downplay the magic and god parts. I like the Thor movies, but I think they would be much better if they went all in with them.

If Thor of the future (King Thor) exists, we assume that Thor vein unworthy and the new female character who can wield Mjolnir (because I refuse to call her Thor. Thor is his name. Not the wielder of Mjolnir) is temporary. Were she permanent, King Thor would blink out of existence. Ot at least not have a Mjolnir with which he used to battle Galactus in the future. Not to mention battling Gorr the God Butcher along with Thor the Avenger and Thor the young thunder god. Agh .. these time stream continuum complications are curious things.

I'm guessing that Marvel didn't go the God route for the films because they were primarily concerned that the US religious groups might be offended and advise their fellow believers not to go see the movie...
I guess having Thor only be an alien is less controversial.

In the Dark World Odin says to Loki that tgey are not Gods. They are born, they live and they die. I was surprised to hear that said in the film. I thought they would leave that line between alien/God more blurred.

Maybe there is some sci-fi here and there in Thor, but at its heart it is fantasy. All of that stuff with Mjlinor is magic. It's kind of like King Arthur and Excalibur. Only those who are worthy can wield it. There isn't anything scientific about that. That's all magic.

And they kinda did say that Thor isn't a god. In Thor: The Dark World Odin and Loki were having a conversation about something (I don't remember what) and Odin yelled at Loki saying "But we're not gods!!". Pretty much those exact words.

I remember having a conversation on this site about Asgard and the other realms. People kept insisting that Asgard is a part of our universe but it's just really far away. I kept trying to explain that you can't get into a space ship and take a trip to Asgard. You have to go through some type of portal. The seem to be downplaying that in the MCU also.
NitPicker
NitPicker - 8/23/2014, 7:50 AM
@Demiurge

I think that's exactly right. I remember having a conversation about that also. I kept telling people that Marvel downplayed the god aspect of Thor because they didn't want to piss Christians off.
Demiurge

My problem with the Thor movies isn't that Thor and co. aren't gods. Some things just work better on paper than onscreen.
My main gripe is that the movies so far haven't captured the epicness of the storylines. I mean, in The Dark World Thor comes face to face with perhaps the deadliest and most sinister race in the Dark Elves, and you expect to feel the danger, the bloodlust, especially with Malekith involved. But all you get is a torrent of jokes from Darcy. Malekith is this sorcerer who craves murder and mayhem, and the dude can't even handle Rene Russo. WTF.

And Thor's fighting isn't choreographed well. Dude is a powerhouse fighter who uses more than his hammer to bring down trolls, elves and minotaurs. They definitely have to be more creative in showing his abilities, and above all THEY HAVE TO GIVE HIM OPPONENTS WHO CAN REALLY CHALLENGE HIM PHYSICALLY !!!

I was kind of being sarcastic when i asked if Thor was a Title.
Clearly "Thor" is NOT a title.

Its also not a stupid question, seeing how i have one person saying yes, its a title, and another saying no.

Beta Ray Bill wielded Mjolnir, but he's not called Thor or Horse Thor, he's called Beta Ray Bill.

So the fact that Marvel would change this now by having a woman wield Mjlonir be called Thor as if its a title, is very cheap on Marvel's part.
