More From Ryan Reynolds On The Green Lantern Costume!

The actor discusses the debate surrounding the appearence of the costume, talks about the importance of the mythology surrounding the ring and reveals what he thinks about the characters "lame" white gloves...

"There has to be a little healthy debate about it," he explained to MTV News. "I mean, that's important. If it were just slanted one way or the other, I don't think it would be that satisfying. And truthfully, we've only seen a tiny glimpse of the suit, you know, we haven't seen it in motion. And we haven't seen the full suit as well."

"Well, the ring basically is a biological manifestation of its wearer, and that's the mythology that we're sticking to, and that's the mythology Geoff Johns wants to stick to, and I completely agree with him."

"The white gloves aren't there, and I think that's fine, because specifically they're lame. But everything else is gonna be there, and I think the fanboys and the people that are new to the character are gonna love it."

They are kind of lame. The costume isn't even finished yet. So while I'm not fully sold, I haven't seen the real thing yet, so I'm confident it will be pretty good.

I'm more bothered its a stupid cgi costume and not real!

If it don't look right, then it takes you outta the whole darn movie!

As long as REYNOLD'S don't do his stupid trademark smirks, I'm sure he'll be a top HAL!

I like the white gloves in the comics but I dont think they'd transition that well to the big screens. It would be too comicbook like. What they are going with is an organic/alien suit which is modern. The movie is a modern take on Green Lantern, and also the first take. Maybe they'll update the suit as the Green Lantern movie series goes forward just like Nolan's Batman. If they would find a way to introduce the gloves without it looking too wierd and out of place then by all means make Hal imagine some white gloves in the next one.
I am however confident that the suit will look amazing. The suit already looks beautiful and it can only become better. To see Green Lantern Hal Jordan in action will be amazing!

Once again I will need to REQUEST SOME ACTUAL FOOTAGE OF THE GREEN LANTERN TEASER!!!!!!!! IF SOMEBODY PUT IT UP THEY WILL BE GODS WALKING AMONGST US!!!!

It sounds like he has a really good grip on the character, while I have to agree with him that the white gloves could have ended up looking pretty stupid on the sort of costume they've gone for. Perhaps, if it wasnt totally CGI they would have worked!? (although I do have to agree with LEE's points about the suit - it'll either look very good or very bad!)

Glad to know these actors aren't afraid to say what works and what doesn't. Some people just think that comics translate perfectly onto the big screen and set themselves up for disappointment.

Reynolds is a real genuine kinda guy I think. I hate when you get actors who will say everything about the comics is perfect and they are huge fans to keep fan boys happy.

I don't care about the white gloves that much. It really seems like he knows the character well. Because that's what really matters.

I like John Stewarts uniform on Justice League...black sleeves all the way down, green wristbands and no leotard thingy. We really do need to get away from the underwear-on-the-outside costumes. With the exception of Wonder Woman of course. LOL!

Like I said from day 1, white gloves would not work and look silly, even more so on film. It makes him look like a space surgeon. Funny how some people kept imagining white gloves.

Well it was perfectly clear (to me) that the gloves weren't white. And i totally agree with Ryan, my favorite suit was the one in First Flight anyways.

I agree about the white gloves, but I would prefer to see more black in the suit like the concept art. Sounds like tweaking is being done, so no problems here.

OH and if the costume in the comics orginally didn't have White gloves then you guys probably would have welomed that. You don't need to change everything just because you can.

I actually like the way they did it in GL First Flight.
Green Forearm sleeves going over the black long sleeves and black gloves. That would look better than the white gloves.

i'm very pleased with how knowledgeable is he of the character and how he addressed the issue. you can tell that he's very passionate about the character and that's most important to me.

Ryan is so in tune with Hal that he is just perfect for this role. Fans are just fans they will say anything about a film when it hasn't even released, but that's what makes a film successful. You know that when there are different comments on a film with many reponses, you know the film is huge. I like Ryan's attitude toward the film and his comments make me even more excited. The white gloves would've looked qiute corny in the film, but glad the black and green is here to say.

I'm completely fine with no white-gloves but they really need to change up the facemask that was revealed, they need to slim down the corners and slim down the whole mask itself.

I also don't want to see an all-green suit. They need some black in there. And NO green hair NO NO NO, that's just silly.

The white gloves look awesome in the comics. More specifically, when drawn by Ivan Reis or Ethan Van Scrier. But I can see them not looking as cool in live action, so I'm fine.

I hate the suit so far. It looks like those weired meat looking suits from The Cell with Jennifer Lopez.

I hate all those wierd lines going through it. it kinda looks gay.

To all you whiney snot nosed fan boys crying about the costume and those ridicules white gloves. What Ryan said is true they are [frick]ing lame. If fan boys were in charge of translating comics into movies, this would be the result.
