Cool! Love that extra shoot-out footage during Death Star rescue part of Ep. IV!

I wonder... Would extended cuts of ANY of these movies be out of the question?

That includes the prequels as well. Believe it or not, I actually liked them. Probably the only one on here that does.

I'm tired of 10000000000000000000000 different versions of the movies coming out. So I dont much care for the deleted scenes :/

Talk about milking the cow to the driest limit possible. I respect Lucas for creating the universe of Star Wars, but I don't really like him.

i love star wars and all but you know what... [frick] you george lucas. I know there's more shit he has stashed away that he's not gonna release until whatever format succeeds bluray 10yrs from now. Tired of this slow release shit. And where's episode 7-8-9?

Please let someone else besides him direct, write the script and get it going!

So do we get these extras if we only buy episodes 4-6 or do we have to buy the full pack to get them?

I heard the extras are only in the 1-6 box, I really hope not! Anyone know?

@kashchei2003 umm.... dude, as much as I hate to say this, george said he would never do those films and that he would never do another star wars live action movie. Now, that being said, there isn't any real reason why someone else couldn't direct. Unless george is against it. Which would be messed up. But, anyway, it is VERY unlikely there will be another live action star wars movie. And if there is one, it will not be for a LONG time. BTW I'm a big star wars fan too so I'm not trying to be a party pooper or whatever. Also, this looks COOL!! And @Gamester76 don't worry dude, I like them too. I don't see why people are so down on them. Sure, some of the acting wasn't the best, but they were good films. Especially episode 3.

REBOOT since everyone else is doing it might as well, better than yet another release of the same movie

Lucas will NEVER allow another writer or director to make a STAR WARS film. He's a big baby and he will not risk someone else making better, new, STAR WARS films than him. He will keep STAR WARS in the clone war era until he dies. He can't stand fans of the original trilogy and every bone he throws is begrudgingly; like adding the original films in a 2 disc set but calling them BONUS MATERIAL even though those films were the main selling point of that series.

And I also liked everything in the first movie besides Anakin, jar jar, and the pod racing sequence. Other than that, it was a solid film.

Are the scenes edited back into the film? If that's the case AWESOME, but if they are just in the Extras...well... that's...nice?

The original movies need a reboot because they really haven't aged well .

@CarlXVIGarfield

You'll need to buy the full set I believe, this is Luca$ remember. He wouldn't miss a trick like that.

That said, these deleted scenes are what I'm looking forwards to the most. It's taken 34 years to see them properly - and note in this teaser there are no prequel scenes.

Too those that enjoy those crappy toy ads fair enough, but you really are kidding yourselves. I get far more pleasure and mileage watching the Plinkett reviews which tears them apart very intelligently and in an amusing way. He articulates everything that is wrong with them.

@ClarkKent1985.....Agreed!! I won't buy the latest version of the original trilogy. I prefer my old VHS set before they retconned it.

@opencurtain for once I agree with ClarkKent1985 (no offence but you come across as too harsh most of the time). Get the [frick] out of here now. Star Wars will never get a reboot. It has aged wonderfully, it has a very nostalgic feel, and still feels like you're watching a futuristic space movie. No true Star Wars fan would ever say that.

I've been waiting on this set for years, and I'm finally getting it! I cant wait (especially if they replace crappy Yoda from Ep 1 with the CG one from Eps 2 and 3, puppet yoda only works in the original trilogy).
I also hope he's replaced the Hayden ghost in Ep 6 with the original Sebastian Shaw one.
And I'm pretty sure the set includes the theatrical original trilogy as well as the newest edits of them. That'll be cool, I'm too young to have seen the theatrical cuts, I've only seen the 1997 editions.

@Gamester you're not alone. I liked Ep III for the most part. Ep II I liked at times, although it also dragged on for a bit. Ep I... worst Star Wars film, but not a total failure, because Darth Maul was a badass, and Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn was amazing. My main problems with Ep I was Jar-Jar and the gungans, as well as Anakin being a whiney little bitch (I know he's 9 but still) and the crappy puppet Yoda they use

I think Star Wars has aged well except the first one. Empire and Jedi still hold up. I dunno about a reboot. I would have very mixed feelings about that. Maybe in another 10 years or move on to an unrelated triology in the same universe

Ahh, real SW film footage without CGI - that's magic!

Ceejay - 7/22/2011, 5:55 AM
@Slayer420 - That shoot out is not on the death star, it's the Imperial base on Endor from Return of the Jedi.

Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back are still very good movies, every Star Wars film after that was utter crap made of an uneven mix of child level stupidity in storytelling and spectacular FX.

level1paladin - 7/22/2011, 6:28 AM
Totally buying this. Special Edition, for the most part, made the movies better. Only huge beef is the Jabba scene in A New Hope. A hutt would not stand for such things. A reboot is a moronic idea people. You seen what happens with reboots? You want it to be clone wars styled? Cause a reboot would make that so.

Jedi needs more love, it may have gone too far with the ewoks but Lucas was trying to show that superior technology and sheers numbers is not always enough to win. Vietnaam comes to mind.

Jedi also finished Luke's story perfectly and left great satisfaction with his character arc. The final confrontation with Vader and Palpatine was the perfect climax to his story.

Add to that what I still consider to be the greatest space battle ever committed to film, and you're a fool to write it off.

Those scenes were not put back in the movie cause they could not be fully restored. The original film clips did not survive very well. I have already scene all of those clips before. They have been out for years on various bootleg tapes.

FINALLY! the rumors are true! you know how long us SW fans been waiting for this scene of Luke assembling his green saber? HOLY [frick]! If I could shake Lucas's hand I would hold hit while I TOE PUNT HIM RIGHT IN HIS NABS! then thank him for making us wait 30 years for this scene

Yeah new scenes footage give'em Blu-ray set.

Wait for it... George Lucas, " My movies have 3D now and are in theaters in 2012 you also get a new set of 3D Blu-Rays afterwards but wait there's more each movie will be sold separately for $39.99."

At least will always have Netflix.

Lucas has hours and hours of this stuff locked up in vaults. He'll continue to release a few minutes of it at a time every few years or so as a new set of the movies is released because he knows that the legions of Star Wars fans out there will line up to buy yet another copy of the films to get that new footage. I've got one set of the films, and that's enough for me.

Hope the extra scene(s) won't be in that a shaby quality as the viedo implies. Would prefer them to be digitally remastered aswell.

I loved the originals as a kid but when I look at them now I do think that they could do so much more with the technology available today , the reboot "Star Trek" was great? I'm not a great fan of the new "Star wars" trilogy as Lucas went away over the top with the CG I , the characters were boring and stiff I did like the light saber fight scenes for me they were the best part of the I - III movies , I think that there are a lot of good actors out there who would relish taking on the parts of Han Luke Leia and the rest , I'd love to see Dart Vader in a really cool retro costume when you look back at Vader's suit from the original it looks crap in to days terms , my opinion is valid and I'd say there are a lot of star wars fans open to the idea just once Lucas doesn't direct .
