DEADPOOL Has Received A PGA Nomination; Now Has A Shot At An Academy Award Nod For Best Picture

Could we really see Deadpool land a Best Picture nomination at this year's Academy Awards? Well, the PGA award contenders are usually a pretty good indication of the movies that go on to receive Oscar nods, so... yes! A slim chance, maybe, but a chance nonetheless.

Either way, the Merc With a Mouth's first solo big-screen outing is in great company. Here are the PGA nominees in full:

Arrival
Deadpool
Fences
Hacksaw Ridge
Hell or High Water
Hidden Figures
La La Land
Lion
Manchester by the Sea
Moonlight

The movie's Writers Guild of America and Golden Globes nominations already ruffled a few feathers, so it'll be very intersting to see how this goes down. Do you guys think Deadpool has a shot at winning? What about that Academy Award nom? Drop us a comment below and let us know.

The PGA Award winners will be announced on Saturday, January 28, 2017.

If it does score an Oscar nomination, I hope the producers are credited as "ASSHATS".

That'd be awesome. But still very doubtful. There won't be ten nominations for the Best Picture Oscar.

Damn. Glad the writers were very persistent on making this film. Paid off.

But honestly, if this does happen, it's gonna be hard to see what this movie had that The Dark Knight didn't.

@Invictor - IMO The Dark Knight was not a huge departure from the normal Hollywood formula for a producer. Since this is a PGA based nod. IMO Deadpool was a big departure from the norm and a big risk for any producer.

Ok. I really enjoyed Deadpool. It was a very good movie. Lots of fun.

But.....

Best Picture?

Well....if it wins...I wouldn't be pissed. Just...STUNNED.

Like...majorly stunned and shocked.

Maybe just to see the looks on the faces of those who think the Nolan Batman movies are the prime example of the genre at its best. THAT would be funny.

Deadpool was a good film but come on. It looks odd next to its competition. Those other films outclass Deadpool and not because its a cbm. They're just BETTER films.
