Deadpool has made over $500 million worldwide in a little over two weeks, an incredible haul considering the fact that it only cost $58 million to make. Understandably, pretty much everyone who is set to return will be getting a pay increase, and that starts with Ryan Reynolds. He made $2 million for the first instalment, but due to being eligible for box office bonuses and backend compensation, he could end up earning as much as $10 million if it reaches $800 million as analysts currently expect.
That may not seem like much, but after coming off flops like
Green Lantern and
R.I.P.D., it's not a bad haul at all. However,
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that his agents are already getting ready for a
"big renegotiation" for the follow-up.
Oh, and remember how Deadpool's opening credits said the movie was "Directed by an Overpaid Tool"? Well, Tim Miller in reality only scored $250,000, a standard fee for a first time director. However, like Reynolds, he has some box office bonuses to look forward to. In fact,
"One benchmark for extra cash to kick in was a $150 million cume in North America — a number the movie eclipsed in its first four days. (That milestone likely resulted in $100,000 to $150,000 in bonuses.)" Seeing as he doesn't have an option to return for the Deadpool sequel, expect the filmmaker to socre a huge amount when Fox ask him back!
