Why a PG-13 Deadpool created by MARVEL STUDIOS could work better than an R one made by FOX

I would LOVE Deadpool to be R, but to say it can't work as PG-13 is just sad.

Before I start this article, I would like to say, I don't care whether or not Deadpool is R as long as it isn't below PG-13 and has competent writers.

So everyone on the entire site has said "Deadpool can't be PG-13."

I for one, call bullshit. It's simple actually. What's the best run of Deadpool, the one that made balance between emotion, action and comedy? Why, It's most commonly argued to be Joe Kelly's run.

What was that rated again? On Comixology, it said, 12+ .

Lack of blood and killing? Excuse me while I compose a list

Amazing Spiderman
Man Of Steel
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Godzilla: Final Wars
Alien Vs Predator

(As disappointing as the last one was, I give it credit for showing blood and using the line
"Well I hope... it kills...every.. last... [frick]ing... one of them.")

Now let's dive into the biggest issue with the "R" rating, the one liners.

Everyone thinks a PG-13 movie will restrict Deadpool's R rated personality, but in the Joe Kelly run, his personality wasn't about being R, heck, his personality wasn't even about pop culture back in the Joe Kelly run.

It was about funny one liners that pertained to the situation in hilarious ways. Such as after Deadpool broke Typhoid Mary out of a mental hospital, he joked about being worried that it would cost him Eagle Scout.

It was also about one other thing.

It was about a mercenary, a guy who killed for money, learning to rebuild himself as a hero. It wasn't JUST COMEDY.

Sure, Deadpool is a character with a very comedic attitude guys, but back in the Joe Kelly run, he knew how to be serious in his own crazy way, when I saw the leaked script where he took absolutely NOTHING seriously, I nearly screamed "Curse you, Daniel Way!". For the most part, he should be making one liners and kicking ass, but remember, one scene should show his more serious yet still insane side.

If Marvel gets the Deadpool rights, than Disney will have two characters that deserve Tarantino to direct their movie, first one being Boba Fett.

Would be very entertaining but it WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Especially if Marvel Disney gets their hands on it. Disney has yet to produce a rated R movie....not gonna happen.

I honestly couldn't care if the Deadpool movie was PG-13 or R.
I just want it to be made.

I disagree. The humor and language should be for adult audiences, it should make Zombieland look like kid gloves.

You make some good points. If Deadpool came out and was PG-13, I wouldn't be mad. I would be happy just to get a Deadpool movie. As long as they make it work. It's like a PG-13 Punisher movie. It COULD work, but it would take some talent.

Disney owns a few of studios that make R rated movies example: Touchstone, Hollywood Pictures and Miramax. So there is no reason to suggest that Marvel Studios will not make a R rated movie down the line.

Well really, you just look at the Lone Ranger where the villain eats the hero's brother's heart right in front of him... and although it's MOSTLY obscured by glare and shadows, you can still pretty much see what's happening.
That's DISNEY!
I was impressed.

But still, Deadpool ought to be R, so he can go full parody.

While I agree that a dp flick could work at the pg13 level, it works better as a R. The reason kelly's run could be rated 12+ is because they did what would be equivilent of bleeping curse words out of a movie. There were so many #$%& signs going around in those books, sometimes it was hard to tell what curse words was using.

Also I don't know what kelly run you read but he was the one that made dp use pop culture references. He shoryukened kitty, and beat taskmaster with the macarana, for goodness sake. Granted kelly did have the best balance between serious and funny dp, but people who think Way's run was so bad must haven't read much dp, after kellys run. Ways dp might have been as close to kellys run then any other dp writer. Kelly had the sheep gun, way had the gerbil gun. Dp fought hulk to save his life in kelly's run, in ways he fought hulk so he can die. Hell Way even dug deep and brought blind al back. There are many comparisions between the two runs, that many so called fans miss when they talk bad about Ways dp run. I guess fans don't remember Thorpool loki's son, or snot pool, or gay for cable pool, or the cat's bitchpool.

If Deadpool goes back to Marvel then our hopes for an R rated Deadpool movies are dead. Disney isn't going to make an R rated superhero movie.Fox being involved doesn't matter as long as they get a good director/writer to make it correctly.

Also on a sort of unrelated matter, Deadpool being on the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon might make him more popular amongst the general audience so he will get a movie sooner. Kind of like the Guardians of the galazy being on Earth's Mightiest Heroes and now look at them.
