FAN CAST: DC Comics: Kingdom Come The Movie By LEEE777

Kingdom Come was a four-issue comic book mini-series written by Mark Waid and painted by Alex Ross. Set some twenty years into the future of the then-current DC Universe, it deals with a growing conflict between "traditional" superheroes, Justice League etc and a growing population of largely amoral and dangerously irresponsible new vigilantes. Between these two groups is Batman and his assembled team, who attempt to contain the escalating disaster, foil the machinations of Lex Luthor, and prevent a world-ending superhuman war. Come on in, hope you enjoy the casting, took a long time...

The story is set roughly a generation after the then-current DC universe. Ten years prior to the start of the story, the Joker massacres the staff of the Daily Planet, killing (among others) Jimmy Olsen, Perry White and Lois Lane. As he arrives for his trial, he is killed by a new superhero named Magog. In an instance of jury nullification, Magog is acquitted for his cold-blooded act and Superman is appalled by the public embracing a killer as a hero. Already disheartened at the death of Lois Lane, Kal-El abandons his life as Superman, retreating to his Fortress of Solitude where he will spend the next decade, failing to realize his importance as a constant inspiration/role model to other heroes. Other heroes, equally disturbed at the public's overwhelmingly positive reaction to Magog's actions, withdraw from the world at large.
Without the moral compass provided by Superman and his generation, there is little or no distinction between "heroes" and "villains". Metahumans battle openly in the streets without true cause, concern for collateral damage, or innocent passersby.

The narrator and point of view character of the story is a minister named Norman McCay. McCay is a longtime friend of Wesley Dodds, the original Sandman, now infirm and bedridden. The nightmares that once aided Dodds' crimefighting have become disturbing, apocalyptic visions. McCay, like Dodds' doctors, attribute the visions to senility. When Dodds passes away, his visions are transferred to McCay. Already suffering from a crisis of faith, McCay is convinced he has finally gone insane when the Spectre appears to him. The Spectre, still hosted by Jim Corrigan, but no longer in touch with his humanity, recruits McCay to bear witness, and help him determine the innocent from the wicked and ultimately to pass judgment on the approaching superhuman apocalypse.

The dark state of the world comes to a head when the Justice Battalion, led by Magog, attacks the Parasite with excessive and unnecessary force — they refuse his offers to surrender and deny his pleas for mercy. Parasite panics and tears open Captain Atom, releasing his nuclear energies and irradiating the entire state of Kansas and parts of the surrounding states, killing millions and taking out a large portion of America's food production.

Many thanks to the guys at Wikipedia for the info.

Right here is the "Kingdom Come" cast:

Ray Liotta as Superman:

Not the first actor you'd think to play Superman, but in a Kingdom Come movie he's near perfect. He's got that old chiseled look and just a change of the voice (He is an actor you know), you will believe a man can fly again, so yes, Ray Liotta is Superman!

Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman:

What can i say, shes got that older look for Wonder Woman but not too old for the Amazon Princess. Not only does she look like Wonder Woman, she can beat the heck out of most men, which she did time and time again on the fantasy series "Xena." She so is Kingdom Comes Wonder Woman.

Now for the rest of the cast:

Michael Keaton as Batman:

Who else could portray a better older Bats than Keaton himself, no-brainer. Yeah he would be a good Batman Beyond Bruce Wayne too (Though maybe in a few years) and maybe a great Millers Dark Knight Returns Bat, but this one seems to fit him the most. Perfect Kingdom Come Batman.

Patrick Warburton as Shazam! (Captain Marvel):

I'm kinda seeing the light of him being Captain Marvel in the regular DC Universe movies, that and by the time we ever do get a "Shazam!" movie he wont be right for the part then, if Warner Bros. started filming now then yes.

Anyway, a great choice for the Kingdom Come Captain Marvel, not only is he a spitting image he is a great actor and because he is Captain Marvel it will still have that cheese factor about the character but Warburton can easily do serious too, perfect choice for Shazam!

John Slattery as Green Lantern:

"Mad Man" actor Slattery is an actor with calibur just watch the show to see that and oozes Green Lantern. The guy was made for kingdom comes Lantern.

Eric Stolz as The Flash:

Come on, it's like the guys come right out of the printed page as Wally West from Kingdom Come, he screams an older Wally West, fine actor too.

Rachel Nichols as Kid Flash:

Well yes who wouldn't want to see her in skin tight Flash latex. Oh my, she would make a amazing Kid Flash and most have seen she can act an also kick booty. Rachel Nichols is Kid Flash.

Dolph Lundgren as Aquaman:

Not the obvious choice but the perfect choice in my book. He yells King of the seas, not only is he a big guy, he has the build look and maybe even accent for an older Aquaman, he would own this part.

Shawn Christian as Red Robin:

The boy wonder has grown up and who better to play him than Shawn Christian himself. Not only has he got the look right down to a tea but he just says Red Robin. He's been in many television projects and i reckon it's hide time he shined on the big screen. Great Red Robin.

Kiefer Sutherland as Red Arrow:

Great actor all you've got to do is watch "24" to see that and i could so see him as the grown up Speedy; Red Arrow. Cant see him any other Superhero from DC or Marvel for that matter than this role, plus red suits him lol.

Deadman will be all CGI voice actor David Hayter:

Hayter (voice actor) with a distorted voice would make Deadman more creepy and supernatural as he should be portrayed on the big screen. Theres talk of a Deadman solo movie from Del Toro so fingers crossed for that, would loved to see like, um guy on screen.

Kevin Sorbo as Hawkman:

Yes i know, but think about it, he's got the build, deep voice and height to make the greatest Hawkman, plus remember he is the Kingdom Come Hawkman, so he wont ever take the hawk head off, in my book perfect, you wont even know it's him.

Sandra Bullock as Jade:

This pick even surprises me, because i cant imagine the actress as any comic book character ever, well maybe a Lois Lane years and years ago and i mean years but infact she makes the perfect Jade. She can act and has a great bod too, plus she'd be all light green, lose the normal Bullock accent plus green eye contacts and you wont even know it's her. She'd make the greatest older Kingdom Come Jade.

Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor:

What can i say with this one, quality actor to the max an he is Lex Luthor, having him back for a much serious Lex would not only draw all the crowds but have all the fan boys creaming their pants. Him in the picture would make it gold.

Mickey Rourke as Magog:

Amazing comeback actor and rightly so, he owned the picture "The Wrestler" and was the perfect Marv in "Sin City," plus he's going to tear it up in "Iron Man II" he would make an awesome Magog, you could believe that Superman is scared. Mickey Rourke is Magog.

Charisma Carpenter as Nightstar:

Amazing actress, still kinda stuck in TV World? She would make just the best Nightstar in her scantily clad bust bursting purple outfit and she kicks ass too.

Christian Kane as Ibn Al Xu'ffasch:

Yeah what a name, also know as a really grown up Batman's son not only is he picture perfect he can act amazing too, been in many things and this role has his name written all over it.

The Spectre will be totally CGI and have the voice over work of James Earl Jones:

Well not a lot to explain here, i mean who else could get that out of this World voice and make this movie even more quality.

Clark Ross as Norman McCay:

Clark Ross you say, well i reckon who better to play the part than Alex Ross's pop the man who was actually modeled after Norman McCay.

LEEE777 - Well thats it whew, that took way too long but i wanted it to be a quality casting, of course this is not all of the DC Universe's Kingdom Come characters, if you can think of any and good actors/actresses to play any parts speak up. I think as a very old Ollie no man could play him but Sean Connery and maybe for an old Dinah (Black Canary) Glenn Close or something, who knows, let me know who you would want in other Kingdom Come roles and the best ones i'll do up.

Remember just like "The Ultimates" casting i did a couple of weeks back, this is not the regular DC Universe, keep that in mind and why i picked the picks i did. Oh and i had to use a few action figure pics up there, i have no idea why it was so hard to find Kingdom Come pictures on the net, you'd think there would be lots with the talented work of artist Alex Ross?

By the way, you can see all my other castings by just clicking the Hulk finger up the top left hand corner that says "Click me." All the castings are there altogether from Avengers to Justice League to Injustice League to beyond. Hope you enjoyed this and if not seen them, them too, thanks for reading! ; )

Those picks are pretty good.I think Charisma Carpenter is about 15 years too old to play Nightstar. She's about the same age as the guy you picked for Dick. The only one I don't like is Gene Hackman.

Ray Liotta and Eric Stoltz? Hell to the no! lol!

When I saw Liotta I actually laughed. They both OOZE the term Sleeze Bag, no matter how they "act". I always pictured Warburton as Kingdom Come Supes but I decided he would make me laugh. He would really have to own it and then sell his performance back to me. As you say he could make a better Shazam. Shazam was kick-ass in Kingdom Come.

Not a bad casting over-all though Leee. I don't remember Kid Flash having much to do in KC but Nichols always causes a rise... in blood pressure.

Watchtower31 - 11/14/2009, 6:26 PM
Awesome casting man. I really like it!

The only person i cant ever agree with is your Shazam pick. He's too known for comedy and hasn't done anything serious.

You should actually write a story. You'd probably be good at it if your casting is this good.

Lee, at first I thought like Betty about Liota..but on further reflection, I think it might just be genius! Some other great pics too..but Lundgren really shouldn't be cast in anything that requires him to speak/emote..likewise Kevin Sorbo!

LEEE777
LEEE777 - 11/15/2009, 12:34 AM
Hot damn lol! ; D

Thanx guys, i knew such a vast an diverse casting as this people would have their odd one or two that wouldn't gel with them, i tried to think way outside the box on most picks and not use the same old picks like Depp, JDM, Vally etc (Though Vally would make an amazing EARTH-X CAP if made older looking, look!) =

And expanded the picks as much and as far as possible!!

This is sorta going to be WATCHMEN on acid or something, its gonna be very raw and very Adult, not one for the kiddies, the comments above proves everyone (well most lol) has an issue with someone different (Which is really good). Like i said, thought outside the box.

SUPERMAN @ ROR @ BETTY @ KEROSENE @ CLINT @ Yep mixed reactions on LIOTTA, cool! Yeah i knew he'd be a tough one to crack, love him or hate him not only is he a great actor an looks perfect for the part, a bonus has him he's never played a CBM character and his um, creepiness as BETTY puts it would work in his favor, @ KEROSENE, not sure General Hawk would work well as KINGDOM COMES SUPERMAN, man, LIOTTA'S though has got that extra edge, of course like i said this is a Adult CBM and yes of course RAY would have to lose his NY accent for this one, but could do that easily! @ ROR, Genius, thanx man, you might give me a big head lol!

As for STOLZ @ BETTY, i don't see whats wrong with him as a future gritty WALLY WEST?! He's got the acting and quality down and not only that but this FLASH would mainly be CGI, just his image and voice would be used, you'd never see the real actor as such in this.

Same goes for SORBO as HAWKMAN! Though it'll be mainly his head piece.

As for AQUAMAN, yeah i knew he would have mixed reactions, which is good. The thing is though, he's making a comeback and i wouldn't even mind if he was even voiced over, though i think he's accent(If toned a bit) could work in AQUAMAN's favor. He's deff got the old and right build for it and wouldn't have a huge part to play in KINGDOM COME anyways!

WATCHTOWER @ As for WARBURTON, yeah he's done a lot of comedy, but no actor should be typecast, i think with a lot of tweaking he would surprise you though! As part of regular SHAZAM though, ive come around to TEABAG thinking for that other actor as CAPTAIN MARVEL, but this is KINGDOM COME dude.

This could be some serious ass movie here, like ROR said, go back and think about it, reflect on it, mostly all fit. As for SANDMAN @ CONTRAST, who would you pick for that role??! Love any feedback, that and any others up or better still, not up there?

SHHH @ Thanx man!!!

Guys @ Thanks all!! Yeah i knew this casting would be a bit more controversial, controversy is a good thing right lol!

Cheer for all the feedback and comments guys!!

Good cast Leee@! Liotta is a little on the
psycho side to play an old Superman but then
again he is a very good actor!

Warburton is perfect as an older Captain Marvel!

Lucy Lawless "IS" the older Wonder Woman!

Kerosene@, Dennis Quaid is only 6'1"' and Supes
is listed at 6'3"-6'4"! Dennis Quaid is too short
to play the Kingdom Come Superman!

Man, you put a lot of work into this Leee@!

@LEEE--personally, I'd cast Geoffrey Lewis as Wesley Dodds...but that's just me.

And as far as the Ray Liotta pick, I was pretty impressed by it. All the other picks are varying degrees of good, but Ray Liotta was (not the best pick of the roles you cast, but) the most...impressive...I guess you'd say--mainly because it would definitly work, but it's a cast nobody would have thought of. My overall favorite casting was Gene Hackman, though.

You had me at Ray Liotta. He is a class actor and would be perfect for the kingdom Superman.

My least favorite would have to be Dorph.

But great job man. Stellar casting. perfect.

i don't think Warburton could do the Kingdom Captain Marvel though, not sure.

THEHAWK@ I've seen Warburton acting in a serious
roll and he is a fine actor! It takes a very good
actor to do comedy, great timing and delivery!
Just look at Robin Williams, his serious rolls
have been downright amazing! If Warburton can do
the Tick he can do Cap Marvel! Fer sure!

ANSWER @ I'd cry too if they ever made this lol! ; D

Yeah, with all the animated's were getting from WB it wont be long till we get this one, just a matter of time, and their do all the big ones!

HAWK @ Kudos man, thanx dude!! Yeah DOLPH was a wild card, though with a beard plus AQUAMAN doesn't have a huge part in it and alot of under water stuff, he'd be ok lol, cant wait to see EXPENDABLES!!

DDD @ Cheers buddy, yeah i knew ppl be iffy on the WARBURTON choice, ive also seen him in a serious movie and he blew mw away with it, but i cant friggin remember what it was called? I wish ppl would see that, it'll so change their mind about him! Its a reason why i picked him for SHAZAM! in the first place, though prefer him in the KINGDOM COME role now lol.

WATCH @ I'll try and find out what that movie was for ya dude and are you on about me writing one or DDD lol? Coz i'll pass, i'll leave all that to HAWK, BatmanKnight and co heh heh, i had trouble doing a friggin' review once lol! ; D

FAD @ Thanks appreciate it!! Yep ol' NICHOLS is that lol, JOE wasn't the greatest, but NICHOLS was one of the biggest highlights from that! ; D

Contrast @ Your welcome dude and cheers!!

SGA @ Yeah i did ages ago, an yeah CLINT would make the best BEYOND BATS ever but he said he's stopped acting now, for ever, though theres always a chance, yeah he would make an amazing BATS!!

VitMagic @ Cheers dude, yeah took me weeks too lol, thats so cool we're on the same wave length (lol), damn it was a hard job, of all of the casts, hey if your into fan-casts, why don't you do one of a superteam or something, its hard work but its fun too lol!

STOOPUDR
STOOPUDR - 11/16/2009, 7:59 AM
I love this idea. I was thinking of the same idea for a movie as a vehicle for Bruce Campbel as Superman and Patrick Warburton as Batman (he looks just like Batman from the animated series), although admittadly mine would have to have a bit of a comdeic side. Kind of a reboot of the old Adam West Batman show, with the rest of the JLA. I am thinking of the rest of a cast and a story idea for my first post. IF anyone else wants to start one, save me some time.

I think there should be some thought to a comedic superhero TV show. Not a parady, just a little campy. Give the kids what we had with Adam West, or the old Spiderman or Hulk shows.
STOOPUDR
STOOPUDR - 11/16/2009, 8:16 AM
actually I mis-stated it would be a good TV show, probably not as good of an idea for a movie competing against the more prominent cannon. A replacement for smallville. Plus, I am using somewhat B-list actors.
UberGeek
UberGeek - 11/16/2009, 8:18 AM
Great picks Lee, I totally agree on almost every choice.

Ray Liotta as Superman;

Is the PERFECT choice. I'd find it hard thinking up a great actor to portray a dark and beaten supes, but as soon as you think of Ray you realise he has everything you'd want!

I think this was probably one of the harder characters to get to grips with because it's NOT your traditional supes, so like you say when your casting that you need to think outside what you normaly expect from that character

Michael Keaton as Batman;

not so sure about this, I feel you are just taking an easy choice to please the fans - Michael Keaton can be a great actor but I feel he never really delivered the true spirit of the dark knight, I feel Kiefer Sutherland would fare much better in a larger role such as this.

Dolph Lundgren as Aquaman;

BAD IDEA! In such an epic film, the story is held together by a strong supporting cast and all are as good as the weakest chain, so to prevent this rather large ship from sinking to bottomless depths of truly crap acting, make sure the small parts are filled by big names, none come much bigger than Ian Mckellen.

Kiefer Sutherland as Red Arrow;

Since I have him now playing Batman, someone else is needed and I can't think of anyone better than Justin Hartley who currently does a fantastic Green Arrow in Smallville - just age him up a bit and he's good to go!

Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor;

Again with a fan pleasing choice, I feel the best way to go is with someone less typical, enter Hugh Laurie - anyone who watches House is sure to agree he's nigh on perfect as a manipulating know-it-all who always has a master plan and a backup plan, and hates to be wrong!

Mickey Rourke as Magog;

I can't really argue with you on your choice, though I simply want to see a different take of this character, other than "Tough Hard Ass" I want an actor to emote what makes Magog tick someone like, Hugo Weaving.

Let me know what you think of my changes, i'd like to see your takes on The Joker, Atom Smasher, Ray, Oliver Queen, Steel, Red Hood, Vandal Savage, Captain Atom & Parasite.

We can only dream about such a movie, but man it would be EPIC!
