Back in 2009, I've decided to cast some of the major players in the DC Comics universe, however, this article features characters related directly with the Flash only. The castings for other DC characters are either on separate articles or have not yet been posted.

NOTE: My fan cast is base primarily on the outer appearance of the actors/actresses because (naturally) I did not examine the acting ability of every single actor/actress. I am well aware that some people CANNOT act…

The Good Guys

Chris Evans as Wally West

I’m a big fan of Chris Evans and I think he has the potential to be a well-respected actor. I realize that he has already done Johnny Storm and will next be Captain America, however, Wally West is a DC Comics character…not Marvel. I think that his particular style of comedy is well suited for the Flash. He definitely has the looks to be a leading man and has the acting chops to pull off this role. He doesn’t need to look super-jacked like in Captain America and obviously he will be portraying the older version of Wally.

John Slattery as Jay Garrick

I originally was going to cast Ian McKellen as Jay Garrick but because John Slattery is younger (by about 25 years), he would be able to portray a more energetic, realistic Jay Garrick. It’s also a plus that Slattery already has white hair, despite only being 48 years old. I haven’t watched Mad Men but from what I hear, it’s a good show and the acting in there, including Slattery, is phenomenal (Slattery has been nominated for several awards).

Patrick Wilson as Barry Allen

I originally was going to cast Matthew Fox as Barry Allen, however, I felt that Patrick Wilson (though younger) will be better to portray a smarter, scientific Barry Allen (who is, after all, a police scientist/forensic scientist). I first notice Wilson in Watchmen and I thought he did a good job. Already having experience in a CBM, I think he can definitely pull of this role. However, Wilson is only about 8 years older than Evans, who I casted to play Wally West, his nephew by marriage.

Kyle Gallner as Bart Allen

I purposely chose the person who played the Flash in Smallville because 1) I like Smallville and 2) I think that Kyle Gallner has done a decent job as Impulse. I think Gallner definitely has the look and the acting chop to pull off this supporting role. After all, Gallner is getting more exposure and getting better as he goes along.

Jon Hamm as Johnny Quick

I don’t have a particular reason why I chose Jon Hamm as Johnny Quick except that his robust physique reminds me of the picture of Johnny Quick. He’s also of the right age and definitely has more than enough talent to play this otherwise, minor supporting character.

Terrance Stamp as Max Mercury

Who can deny that Terrance Stamp is an awesome actor? I certainly can’t. I’m a huge fan of Stamp and I felt like he deserves a role as a mentor/elderly speedster, namely Max Mercury. He definitely has the look, the age, and definitely the talent to play a mentor to all the (relatively) younger speedsters.

Rachel McAdams as Iris Allen

For no real reason except that I respect her more and more as an actress, I decided to cast Rachel McAdams as Iris Allen. I think that she has the look of the part spot on, is of the proper age, and definitely has enough talent to play the pivotal character in Barry Allen’s life. However, she is only 3 years older than Chris Evans, who plays her nephew, Wally West.

Grace Park as Linda Park

I decided to cast Grace Park as Linda Park because I felt I wanted to cast an Asian woman (obviously) that had the look of a domesticated person…if you know what I mean. Actresses like Jamie Chung just reminds me too much of someone who is young and wild (Jamie Chung starred in such movies as Sorority Row). If you watch an episode of Hawaii Five-0, you’ll find that Park can definitely play someone who’s up to a lot of responsibility, yet looks good at the same time :).

The Bad Guys

William Fichtner as Captain Cold

I personally decided to cast William Fichtner because I think he’s a decent actor who can bring a sort of veteran appeal to this role/movie. His specific look of villainy can also bring a more realistic portrayal of a man who freezes things. He is also definitely of the right age.

Mark Pellegrino as Mirror Master

There’s no particular reason why I casted Mark as the Mirror Master except for the fact that his creepy look reminds me of a maniacal villain which the Mirror Master definitely is.

Alan Tudyk as Weather Wizard

I actually like Alan Tudyk in both Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and I, Robot. In both movies, he played a good guy but I think he definitely has enough talent to play a bad guy, namely the Weather Wizard. He would have to dye his hair black though.

Bridget Regan as Rose & Thorn

I didn’t watch Legend of the Seeker very consistently but I think Bridget Regan does a descent job as Kahlan. It’ll be tough but I think she has the potential to pull of a decent portrayal of Rose/Thorn, 2 personality of the same person. I do realize, however, that her character is suppose to be in Alan Scott’s generation.

Guy Pearce as the Reverse-Flash

I wasn’t a big fan of Guy Pearce until recently when I saw his (unfortunately small) role in The Hurt Locker. I’ve also heard that he’s done a spetacular job in Chris Nolan’s Memento which I have yet to get around seeing. He has already recently been nominated for several awards for The King’s Speech. I think he definitely has talent to play Barry Allen’s arch nemesis and there’s really no reason why he shouldn’t.

Ian Somerhalder as Zoom

I’ve decided to cast Ian Somerhalder as Zoom because I think he can definitely play a great foil to Chris Evan’s Wally West. He’s an okay actor who, to me, already looks rather creepy…creepy enough to play the insane Zoom. He’s also of the proper age. I’ve only seen him in Smallville but his role in there, I think, really shows that he has the potential to portray Zoom.

Tahmoh Peniket as Heat Wave

Honestly, I’ve never heard of this guy before seeing him casted in some other prior FanCasts. I only casted him because he looks the part. Sorry if this description is insufficient.

??????? as Captain Boomerang
I forgot to cast Captain Boomerang and I fear that if I attempt to now, I will not be able to find a suitable actor to portray him. Fan favorite Hugh Jackman is not available (because I casted him as somebody else in my shared DC Universe). I'm thinking of casting John Stamos simply cause his look just reminds me of Cap. Boomerang. However, I find that he isn't the best of actor. What do you think? If not, who should I cast?

Also, if I was to film a origin story for Wally West, I would include a cameo from Frances Kane aka a one time girlfriend of Wally aka future supervillain Magenta. To play her, I would pick...

Emma Stone as Magenta

I chose Emma Stone because I feel like she's an okay actress who has the ability to play a character who may have a bigger role in the future. I realize, however, that she is 7 years younger than Chris Evans.

Hope you enjoyed this. Constructive criticisms are welcome :)
