Let me start by stating a few things:
1) This is my first article, so bear with me if there are some errors with the pictures
2) This is a WHAT IF article, so don't believe anything stated unless it somehow becomes reality.
3) I'm open to EVERYONE'S opinions and ideas, please feel free to include pictures, or ideas in you're comments, I love reading everyone's opinions.
4) Its a long article, that took up a few hours, so please come back to it if you are busy or at least look at the pictures for fun.
Lets begin, the year is 2010. A Spiderman reboot is in the works, and recently Marvel has discussed live action adaptations of some well-known and lesser-known heros. Now whatever your feelings are towards the reboot, we call all agree to disagree for this sake of this article. Now what happens if the reboot tanks completely, and we have a tarnished name to Spiderman? If Marvel decided to create a live action show, could we have an awesome ingredient here? With all of Spidey's enemies, a show could use each villian, and build up a perfect story utilizing each character, something movies couldn't do within 2 or 3 hours.
Again this is WHAT IF:
Peter Parker/Spiderman:
Ah yes, I know I used a Ultimate picture of Peter, but lets face the facts; the movie will be an Ultimate influenced movie. LEEE77 I know you hate that idea, but bear with me here. Personally I would of picked Logan Lerman for the reboot, but that's because I never heard of Andrew. If there was ever a live action show, I'm positive Lerman or Garfield would be perfect for it. Of course that's disregarding cost, acting skills , how well the movie does, and if either of them are up to the role. (Remember this is WHAT IF, so I'm not saying any of this will happen.) Logan Lerman was really great in Percy Jackson. He had the kinda Peter Parker charm I'd like to see, rather than Tobey McGuier's/Same Raimi's take. We'll have to wait and see how Andrew Garfield does the role.
Gwen Stacy:
I know she is not Spidey's final love interest, but since we recently learned that Emma Stone would be playing Gwen instead of MJ. To me thats perfectly fine, Emma Stone is hot, but I believe that whoever plays Mary Jane should have near model hotness. I honestly didn't feel like finding another Gwen actress, as I feel Emma would do the role justice. She's a good actress, and as I said, hot.
Mary Jane:
Every fanboy's, nerd's, jock's, and man's dream girl. Hell if I could make her jump out of the comic and marry me, well, we wouldn't be having this discussion. She's the perfect embodiment of a great girlfriend, sexiness, and coolness. Someone who looks the role, acts the role, and IS the role, should be cast as MJ. That's why I've chosen Malin Ackerman and Alice Eve. But of course I know that not everyone thinks they're hot, but again, leave your opinions and pictures in the comments section. Malin Ackerman, is hot, and looks good in red hair, but I'm afraid she may not have the complete sensuality to her. Alice Eve has an amazing body (I've looked at her Maxim pictures.) And she'll probably look great with red hair. She was on everyone's list as the white queen in X-Men: First Class, but we were all let down. So why not Mary Jane?
I know some fanboys will hate me, but for purposes due to my laziness I will be skipping Uncle Ben, Aunt May, JJJ, and some other major characters to get to the meat of the article, the enemies of Spiderman:
Eddie Brock/Venom
Honestly, I never got into the Mac Gargan or whatever version of Venom that was used for a while, example being the Marvel Civil War. I've only loved Eddie Brock's Venom. So if you love the other version, you'll have to ignore this section. I see Eddie Brock as Peter's exact opposite. You can embody the classic version, which he is a bit older than Peter, or the Ultimate version, which isn't too too much older than Pete, and more like the long lost rival brother. Chris Pine can play a role where you love him, or he can be a prick but you love him. He can be the younger version of Eddie Brock, and to me, would be a cool bad guy. I couldn't decide on which actor could play an 'older' version of Brock, so I'll leave it up to you guys! *Note: yes, Chris might be skinnier, but in reality, we're probably not going to get a bulky Eddie Brock, but a bulky Venom IS A MUST!
SINISTER SIX:
Vulture:
Despite how you felt towards the was-to-be Spiderman 4, Vulture, if done the right way, would be really cool. Spiderman and Vulture fighting high above the city, both falling to their death if they don't shake eachother. Plus for brownie points, if they ever wanted to tie this into the larger Marvel universe, then maybe have it so that the Vulture's flight suit was STARK'S design, or a prototype. Whatever could of been done, I truly believe that Ben Kingsley or John Malkovich would ROCK this role. Nuff said.
Electro:
Everyone is rooting for him in the movie, but will we get him? Who knows, I for one hope so. If not, hell this pretend show could hopefully use him. I would go with Chester Bennington or Ben Foster. Chester Bennington is the lead singer of Linkin Park (We all hate em or love em). Recently he'll be a victim in Saw 7/3D. He's had small cameos in the Crank series, but I'd love to see him play an actual role. Bring on Electro! Ben Foster is an awesome actor. He's got the look, and can be pretty convincing in whatever role he's in. Well how about they both audition, and the loser can play Shocker :D
Kraven:
As a given, I agree with the articles/fan casts of Gerald Butler playing as Kraven. He'd bring not only justice to the role, but also set the bar for it. C'mon friggin King Leonidas as a hunter sought to bring Spiderman down. That sounds cool to me. Put a friggin lion's mane around him, bulk him back up to the 300 body, and even PETA will be scared. (Note this photo was taken off of Google, and isn't one I personally edited)
Sand Man:
One Word: HE-MAN. Yes Dolph Lundgren would be a great Sandman. Originally my choice for Kraven, I think he'd be a better sandman due to a some what resemblance and he'll look pretty epic turning into sand. Don't get me wrong Thomas Hayden Church was good, but personally I felt that Raimi's Sandman was kinda watered down (pun intended) from what could of been a real life's Spiderman's toughest enemy. C'mon we all hate sand in our shoes, so try fighting a man who is and can control sand.
Mysterio:
Well honestly, I didn't know who fit this role. I went from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, to Eddie Murphy. I'm not kidding you, I actually considered Eddie Murphy. Let me reprise myself by saying, I'm not looking for a face, but only a voice for Mysterio. Sure the origin scene might need an actor's face, but from then on out, all we'll hear is a voice, and someone in a suit. I figured Dwayne The Rock might be a potential voice over, due to his 'family comedys' that have made him 'funny', but I've been wrong before. And so I ask again, please leave your ideas.
Last but not least, Doctor Octopus:
I loved Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. He was absolutely perfect. I'd bring him back for the role again if the reboot goes that way. But since we've gotten a perfect Doc Ock, why not pic out an Ultimate version just to be safe. In the USM universe he was younger, leaner, and probably more smarter. That's why I'd pick Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Yes, The Comedian from Watchmen, or Clay from The Losers. He's not too skinny, but not exactly big. He's just fit, and he's a cool actor that can play the 'I know I'm going to win because I have my bases covered' role. Hence, the Ultimate Doc Ock. Oh, and if he's too young, lets throw in Javiar Bardum, since he's older and is a creepy bad guy.
Honorable Mentions:
Norman Osborn:
Mark Strong or Gary Oldman.
Mark Strong: Looks the part, is an bad ass, and a great bad guy. Give us your Sinestro DC because you took our Deadpool (well, arguably that was Deadpool)
Gary Oldman: Commissioner Gordan, Dracula, need I say more? This guy is such a great actor, I'd love to see him do a comic book movie on Marvel's side.
Norman Osborn: Garret Hedlund, if you've seen the trailers for Tron:Legacy, the you'll no doubt notice Garret as Sam Flynn. He seems like a promising actor, though I'm not entirely sure what else he's in. Its 3AM, I'll IMDB it later.
Flash Thompson: Sean William Scott. C'mon who else can play a bully and total Spiderman lover/man-crush? That's right, no one.
Felicia Hardy/Black Cat:
I know what you're saying. I didn't think it at first, but when I saw the recent trailer for Christina Aguilera's Burlesque and I knew she was perfect. OK, actually she looked like Gwen Stacy, but that role is taken, plus, she'll ... well, let just say 'fill out' the Black Cat suit just perfectly... Let your mind wonder...
In the end, this was just a fun article to get the community thinking about how they would like to view their heros and villains. Don't forget to leave your thoughts and any pictures or ideas are always welcome!
