BOX OFFICE: FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Eyes $75 Million Debut; New IMAX Poster Released

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them looks set to pale in comparison to the Harry Potter franchise when it debuts next month, but will a $75 million debut be enough to launch a franchise?

Variety reports that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is taking aim at an impressive $75 million opening weekend in North America next month, but will that be enough to launch what Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling have envisioned as a five film series? Time will tell, but that number pales in comparison to the $169.2 million Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 debuted with.

Now, that was obviously the final instalment in a long running franchise, but it just goes to show just how much work Fantastic Beasts is going to have ahead of it. As always, it's entirely possible that $75 million projection could rise, but if reviews aren't good, it could very well plummet. If the movie is anything other than excellent, Fantastic Beasts could face an uphill struggle from the very start.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to be released in North America on November 18th and will receive a release in China on November 25th. Below is a brand new IMAX poster for the movie.

Looks like Fantastic Beast is going to cut into Doctor Stranges box office leg. Hopefully the doctor will make enough to warrant a sequel.

Colin Ferrell looks like J Jonah Jameson. Give him a pornstache and he's ready to go.

No way this is accurate, there are way more die-hard Harry Potter-heads out there.

Feel free to screenshot this and re-post it in 3 1/2 weeks when I'm right.
