In an recent interview with Wonderland magazine, Rowling Thinks that Hermione Granger should have married Harry and not Ron. Her thoughts are below.

“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment, that’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

Rowling then went on to apologize to people who had thought a Harry-Hermione coupling.

“I know, I’m sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not.”

Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by the British author J. K. Rowling. The series, named after the titular character, chronicle the adventures of a wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. That always bothered me. It's like Robin marrying Barney instead of Ted.

I'm not a Harry Potter fanatic, but she did right. Hermione ending up with Harry was too obvious, Hermione and Ron is a far more unexpected and awesome couple.

Potter should have died. Hermione should be a lesbian/asexual Hogwarts teacher. Ron, I don't care.
The books had a shit happy ending.

Hermione and Ron were searching each other from the very beginning, so it didn't feel sudden, but either I would have been ok. But for Hermione and Harry to be together, Ron would need to have someone or be dead, or else he would just be the third wheel.

@JoeMomma29 Neither have I, a fact I'm very proud of.

Anyways, that's art. I'm assuming Rowling kind of hurried up the process of finishing the last couple of novels due to fan servicing. If that's the case, it makes perfect sense. As an artist, when working on a piece, it is best to set it aside and contemplate on it. Then come back to it sometime later and see your mistakes and how you can better it. Seems that now she's gone back and realized that she's ultimately [frick]ed up.

Solution? Never underestimate the power of alternate endings. She should write a chapter or two that made these 2 characters come together and post it online.

Again, don't give a crap about this series but I get what she's saying.

Harry Potter sucks.

But I had always heard that Potter was supposed to die in the last book. I loved the idea of that. These long book series' need something like that for finality.

But at least I got to see Daniel Radcliffe die in the Woman in Black. Can't stand that guy.

If you see how Ginny looks now then you will understand Potter's decision.

I saw this news online few days ago, frankly I think that Rowling is just trying to keep whole Potter thing up. With all the books and movies out, and new franchises like Hunger Games and Riordan's books, she is afraid to be forgotten, besides Harry Potter-series she hasn't exactly written anything to mention.

Dude she has no reason too. Hunger Games and all that crap is not even close to HP.

I liked the ending. I liked that Harry didn't end up with "the obvious choice".

Oh,I thought JK was going to admit her mistake was ripping off the whole Potter thing from Neil Gaiman.

I always wanted Harry and Hermoine together. That's how I thought it'd be when I first watched the movies. Heating that Hermoine ended up with Ron turned me off to the whole series. I haven't seen any movies after Goblet of Fire, nor do I wish to.

I'm glad she realized her huge mistake, even though it is too many years too late.
