Joe Wright's PAN Finds Its 'Smee' In FOUR LIONS' Adeel Akhtar

Director Joe Wright continues with his plan to diversify his movie (though he did miss out on casting a Native American as the...Native American) by adding hilarious Four Lions actor Adeel Akhtar to the cast of his Peter Pan prequel tale.

The Wrap report that Four Lions star Adeel Akhtar will join Hugh Jackman, Garrett Hedlund, and (possibly) Rooney Mara in Joe Wright's take on the origins of Peter Pan and his pals. Akhtar will play Smee; right hand man to Captain Hook (Hedlund) who was played previously in live-action by Bob Hoskins in Steven Spielberg's Hook. This version of the classic story will focus on a young London boy who is spirited away to Neverland, where he will begin his journey to become the legendary "Pan". The script was written by Jason Fuchs and will be produced by Greg Berlanti. We recently found out that Pan took Man Of Steel 2's original release date of July 17, 2015.

People are delusional if they think antman will top this at the B.O. Movies like Pan tend to do extremely well - just look at Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful, Snow White and the Huntsman, (likely) Maleficent, etc... Antman is a character that is known primarily to comic fans, and only a small fraction of which actually even like the character. Im hoping for the best for both movies, but Antman ain't beating Pan.

This is some PC BS stunt casting. In the Cartoon the character was White. This proves the movie will be stupid because of this fact. I will not see this, Epic fail on all levels. Joe Wright is revealing his White Guilt. Smee needs to be White, just like he was in the Cartoon and Books.

^^ Not sure if being sarcastic or actually stupid.

Adeel Akhtar. Or as John Travolta would pronounce it, "Idina Menzel."

@Nick56, if those adaptation movies performed well, then Marvel movies have done even better. Ant man is a Marvel movie post Avengers 2. Use your logic.

I don't think Garret Hedlund is Hook. I thought Hugh Jackman was going to play Hook.

So, a white person is cast as an idian and an indian has been cast as a white character. Makes sense. I'll be seeing Ant-Man anyways. In Edgar Wright I Trust!

Are they just going to remake Peter Pan every ten years or so?

@Maia87

Ah, the "answer a question with a rhetorical question" tactic. Well, when you can tell a hundred different stories with Batman and/or Spiderman then...yes. I'm still not sure about your point, however.
