The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is fast-approaching, and Prime Video (via SFFGazette.com) has announced that the prequel series is set to premiere one day earlier than previously advertised (depending on your time-zone) with the first two instalments!

The episodes will be available to stream on Thursday, September 1, at 9 p.m. ET., but since the premiere will take place globally to avoid spoilers from leaking online, some viewers living in a PT zone will be able to watch them on Thursday, September 1, at 6 p.m. PT. (that’s 10 p.m. on Thursday in Brazil, 2 a.m. on Friday in the UK, and 11 a.m. on Friday in Australia).

Moving forward, episodes will launch at 9 p.m. PT on Thursdays/12 a.m. ET on Fridays.

As far as we know, Prime Video won't be sending out any advance screeners for The Rings of Power, so we may not get any early word on the quality of the show before the premiere. A social media embargo is also in place following the recent red carpet screening, but will likely lift before the series debuts.

Check out a new promo below.

Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power stars Morfydd Clark, Benjamin Walker, Charles Edwards, Charlie Vickers, Markella Kavenagh, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Tyroe Muhafidin, Maxim Baldry, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Leon Wadham, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.

I've heard from quite a few people that those first two episodes are fantastic.

@RorMachine - I have said before that I'm not really convinced by the look of the show, but otherwise I really look forward to it.

Great to hear it's fantastic, because than I can more easily forgive my only complaint as well.

It's such a great end of 2022 for "geekdom".

We're getting new Lord of the Rings, new Game of Thrones, Wakanda Forever, Black Adam, She-Hulk, Season 5 of Cobra Kai, the final episodes of The Walking Dead, Tales of the Jedi, Andor, and I'm sure more that I'm missing.

@marvel72 - that explains why my local cinema as doing a re-run of all three of them.

And I'm seriously considering going to all of them. 30 bucks for 12 hours of movie (and that movie being LOTR) does sound very much worth it.

@bkmeijer1 - I saw them last time they came to imax. Truly amazing. I'll never miss them in theaters when they re release.

Watch it actually be good production, good sound, good cinematography, and good story, but people have convinced themselves its bad and wont give it the time of day.

I agree that they should have just done the Silmarillion but I also agree that that story is uneventful for a show or a movie.

I think this will be good and interesting. I'm sure a few episodes will be clunky and pandering to the SJWs but I have a feeling that overall itll be good.

@artofwilldeonne - sounds like a big part of it is the limited amount of rights they were able to obtain.

A lil late Ror. But we all knew this would be the case considering Bayona directed the first two episodes like a film.

Considering how much this cost to make,House Of Dragons looks better.

@marvel72 - I agree House of Dragon looks better, but that might also be because Game of Thrones shaped my perception of how fantasy shows are supposed to look.

Both otherwise have my interest equally though. Music might even be the tie-breaker for me.

@bkmeijer1 - for TV yes. Without PJ'S trilogy tho GoT doesn't have a leg to stand on.

@McMurdo - yeah it's indeed for tv Game of Thrones has influenced my perception.

Lord of the Rings is probably how I see fantasy on the big screen, so I was pretty dissappointed by the look of The Hobbit trilogy.

So this will finish two weeks ahead of House of the Dragon then?

Really look forward to both shows. Both appear to be introductory seasons to bigger seasons later on, so I wonder which one is gonna sell me the most on what's to come.
