John Barrowman Joins ARROW

Torchwood actor joins Arrow in mystery role. Cryptic description released from CW could be a number of DC heroes and villains. Who would you like to see 'Captain Jack' portray?

Torchwood actor John Barrowman has joined Arrow. Barrowman will board the network's adaptation of the DC Comics series as a “well-dressed man” who is “as mysterious as he is wealthy … he is an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City.”

Barrow is no stranger to the genre, having auditioned for Superman in Superman Returns and voicing a desire to portray Captain America at SDCC '09. Barrowman has a quasi-cult following from the BBC sci-fi drama, Torchwood.

If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say he's portraying a DC hero but producers are playing their cards close to the chest.

He auditioned for Superman? Really. I like JB but I'm glad that didn't happen. Couldn't imagine him as Captain America either. But he is great as Captain Jack Harkness. Bring on Torchwood season 5.

aWould have been a better Captain America.

But to Evans credit, he does play a fantastic sickly virgin Steve Rogers. He just not a soldier, or a leader, or command a screen presence.

He could possibly place Eddie Fyers as like a father figure to Oliver like he is to Conor Hawke.

Maybe Bruce Wayne but I think that they might be getting a little ahead of themselves if they introduce Batman this early in the series.

I agree with "The Question" suggestion. His Captain jack outfit is almost there already...yeah, The Question... that'd be a good casting.

It would be great to have him as Bruce Wayne if he is a hero or Maxwell Lord if he is a villain.

I don't see Bruce Wayne as fitting the "mysterious and prominent figure in Starling City".

I do like the idea of The Question and Barrowman would be great in that role.

I served john barrowman in my workplace 2 years ago, he's tall and arrogant, also lived by me for a while.

Torchwood is filmed in Cardiff, UK afterall.

Excellent actor, loved Torchwood. Cannot guess as to who he is portraying, but this cast seems like it will have good chemistry.

We have seen him play good guys and a bad guy (Desperate Housewives?), so I am very excited to see him on board! I just saw him up close at Comic-con and I joked with him for a second. He was awesome and pretty good looking in person too. I don't see him as Bruce Wayne either, but Maxwell Lord or Merlyn would be perfect for him.

He's a great choice for a TV version of Batman. ;)
