STARGATE SG-1's Teryl Rothery Cast As 'Jean Loring' In ARROW Season 2

It was recently reported that Stargate SG-1 actress Teryl Rothery had landed a multi-episode role in the second season of Arrow, and now it has been confirmed that she is playing "savvy attorney" Jean Loring, who was married to Ray Palmer/The Atom in the comics.

Smallville and Stargate SG-1 actress Teryl Rothery recently confirmed that she will have a role in the second season of The CW's Arrow in a 3-4 episode arc, but she didn't say which character she would be playing. Now, Green Arrow TV has confirmed that her character is Jean Loring, best known in the comics for being the wife and then ex-wife of Ray Palmer/The Atom. Loring will make her premiere in episode three, and we also have the following character description. "JEAN LORING is a savvy attorney from the DC COMICS UNIVERSE who would do anything for her clients. Jean makes her way onto “Arrow” as a longtime friend and legal counsel to Moira Queen, who is on trial for her role in the destruction of The Glades, but soon finds herself pulled into the scandalous lives of the entire Queen family." Interestingly, there was a "Ray and Jean" reference in the episode "The Undertaking" last season. Could we see Dr. Palmer appear on the show at some point?

With a premiere date set for Wednesday, October 9th at 8 PM EST, Arrow season two already looks to be very exciting. In addition to the likes of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) being upgraded to series regulars, this season will also see the introduction of iconic characters such as Barry Allen/Flash and Black Canary. Are you looking forward to what this season has to offer?

If they introduce Atom, I wonder if she will have her mental breakdown and kill someone

With Teryl Rothery playing Jean Loring, I think this now makes that "Ray and Jean" a throwaway reference. The Ray and Jean mentioned in season 1 were friends of Oliver and Laurel's, who were probably the same age as them. This Jean is one of Moira's friends and around her age. 50-something.

It's great how Arrow is introducing characters from the DC universe and involving them in the Oliver's world. Looking forward to season 2 of Arrow and Ollie becoming Green Arrow!

Hmmmm... I wonder if they're going to play her as "normal, well-adjusted human being" Jean Loring or "crazy, murderous psycho-bitch" Jean Loring. 'Cause she certainly made a huge character shift with Identity Crisis.

Ultimately, though, they're probably going to play her as a villain. Because why the hell else would they put Jean Loring in a series that has nothing to do with the Atom?

I always really liked her on SG-1. I may tune in to see her & her character. Have never watched this show, but definitely interested in how they handle the whole Flash thing...

Liked her on Stargate. Didn't like how they killed her off though. They might as well have shot her out of a cannon.

The classic comic pic up there makes her look like Dr. Girlfriend.

Wow, did not see this coming. Rothery's got a long resume in voice acting, believe it or not:

I think its really coming back to bite them in the behind the 'no super powers statement'. Don't get me wrong I like Arrow however they've placed themselves in a position now where it's difficult to expand their universe and now we're getting all these random characters trying to create a wider world reference. I'm sure Clark Kent will be showing up saving the world will a good news story.
