The CW have officially picked up Arrow, the new TV series about DC Comic's Green Arrow, for the 2012-2013 TV season. TV Line were among the first to report the news, as The CW picked up five new series for the next season, including The Carrie Diaries, Cult, First Cut and Beauty & the Beast.

Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, who was presumed dead for five years, until he is found on a remote island. Returning home, the wealthy Oliver decides to create a vigilante alter ego.

Many of us were fans of the TV series Smallville, but many of us hated it. (I was one of the many who was a fan although very disappointed by the series finale) We can only hope that this series does not end up like Smallville. I'm sure we will all at least check out the pilot episode and hope for lesser known DC characters to be brought to the small screen.

They have been saying it is a cross between comic book and the Bourne movies, which is true sounds like a great direction to be heading in.

Honestly, I wish they stopped putting so much effort into TV shows and start making movies. Sad that this got green lit before a WW or Flash film.

@IM53
You and me both bud. I never got into Smallville. In my opinion it was too watered down for me. But, hey that's my opinion.

this sounds awesome... I haven't really seen smallville and I haven't really seen how he fights... but I seriously wish he would fight kinda like the dance master from Game of Thrones... its kinds how I picture green arrow fighting if he had a sword but he has a bow and arrows... just watch this clip and you will probably need a new pair of pants... HAHHAHAH

Nice. There should be some good action and some really good fights in the pilot. We've seen Amell practicing martial arts and parkour. We also have Darren Shahlavi portraying Constantine Drakon. Shahlavi is a martial artist who recently played Kano in Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

You've got good actors like Susanna Thompson, Jamey Sheridan, Colin Salmon and David Ramsay, with David Nutter directing.

I'm looking forward to it.
