It appears lots of heroes and villains are turning up in Starling City in Arrow season 2. There's Bronze Tiger played by Michael Jai White, Brother Blood who'll be portrayed by Kevin Alejandro and of course the recently announced guest spot for Barry Allen, The Flash. Fans have yet to see any of these characters in action but they have seen Black Canary, who'll be portrayed by Caity Lotz. But just who exactly is the Black Canary that was featured on the SDCC season 2 sizzle reel and what is her relationship to Laurel Lance, played by Katie Cassidy?

At The CW's TCA (Television Critics Association)summer press day, network president Mark Pedowitz revealed the truth about the identity of the Black Canary -- the new vigillante is Laurel's sister, Sara, who everyone believed died in the pilot episode's shipwreck of the Queen's Gambit. It appears that Oliver wasn't the only passenger to survive.
Dishing more on the reveal Pedowitz stated, "I hope it brings a certain amount of conflict since she's playing the sister of Laurel Lance. It's an origin story -- don't know if this character is the Black Canary or is not the Black Canary, but it is an origin story. Remember, Laurel Lance was the Black Canary in the DC Universe."
I wonder if she'll hold a grudge or still be carrying a torch for Olliver?

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."
