See, IMO, I liked the movie. At first I was blinded by my fantasy coming true, but then I really did analyze it and tried to get my final decision on it. I would give it like a 7 out of 10.

Like the movie, too. Could obviously been better though but nothing a decent sequel couldn't make forget about.

And I have to point one thing out that I haven't seen mentioned yet. One reason why GL underperformed at the international BO (despite the much discussed problems) is that the character (btw as well as almost all DC characters despite Superman and Batman) is hardly known in many important markets. So to the audience over there it is not like: Oh, great my favorite hero makes it finally to the big screen. I've got to see that. But it's rather: Hm, may be a decent action movie but what a weird story - Don't need to see it in the cinema. E. g. I had to explain to many friends of mine what/who GL actually is. I don't know why but the Marvel characters a much better known here. So many people go to see it. Maybe it's because of all the 80s and 90s cartoons (e. g. Spider-Man and his amazing friends, The Incredible Hulk,...) that made the Marvel characters popular while the lack of such DC cartoons kept their characters unknown. Therefore a reboot wouldn't necessarily bring a significant improvement in the international ticket sales. On the contrary maybe some people won’t see it as they remember there had been another installment recently and don’t want to pay for “the same story” twice.

I honestly don't get the hate for Green Lantern.

I didn't think it was monumental or spectacular or anything. But I didn't see anything hate-worthy about it. The film was affable fun.

It especially perplexed me after seeing the adoration Thor got (despite being probably one of the worst comic-book movies I think I've seen).

I'd say give 'er a sequel, but definitely do more with it. Make it deeper emotionally, maintain the comic-booky flair of the original, maintain the imagination of the constructs, have more alien stuff and a strong villain (Sinestro story is a must for the sequel).

I also want it to maintain the fun, I don't want a dark and gritty Green Lantern movie. I wouldn't mind dark moments, but keep the overall tone pretty fun.
