Florence and the Machine's 2009 hit "Dog Days are Over" is used to great effect during a key scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and lead singer Florence Welch has now shared a video of her emotional reaction to watching the sequence in question for the first time.
If you haven't seen GOTG Vol. 3 yet, major spoilers follow.
When the current team disbands, with Peter Quill returning to Earth and Mantis heading off on her own adventures, Rocket looks at the zune Quill risked his life to pass on to him, and decides to skip forward to the noughties playlist.
"Dog Days are Over" plays over the speakers, and the remaining crew members dance around with the children they rescued from the High Evolutionary's ship while we see Star-Lord reconcile with his grandfather.
It's a lovely, joyous moment - which was most appreciated after the much darker scenes earlier in the movie - and we're sure Florence wasn't the only one who shed a tear or two during this scene!
"In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past." "Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."
Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.
