Earlier this week, we got the first reactions to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 following a screening in Disneyland Paris' Avengers Campus.
The Hollywood premiere took place in Los Angeles yesterday evening, of course, and that means U.S. critics are now weighing in with their thoughts on James Gunn's final MCU movie. As always, it's best to take these with a pinch of salt before the review embargo lifts but there are enough glowing verdicts here to make us think this threequel really is as good as Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Marvel Studios could do with a win after Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, though it's worth noting that many critics have pointed out the fact this movie feels a little too busy and uneven at times. As criticisms go, that doesn't seem overly concerning.
We'll see, but all signs point to this being a return to form for the MCU. It's just a shame (if you're a Marvel fan, at least) that Gunn is now leaving the franchise behind to take charge of DC Studios and helm Superman: Legacy!
Check out the reactions, and a new critics TV spot, for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 below.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.
Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.
