It's been a while since we've had any updates on Kevin Smith's Netflix Masters of the Universe revival, but the first batch of official images featuring He-Man, Skeletor, and more have now been released.

It was announced back in 2019 that Kevin Smith was developing a new animated series for Netflix titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and while we're still waiting on that first trailer, the Clerks director (via EW) has now unveiled the first official promo stills.

The images spotlight impressively redesigned (by Castlevania's Powerhouse Animation) takes on several fan-favorite characters such as He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Orko, Beast Man, Evil-Lyn, and more.

"We get to see them engage not just in clashing swords, but in far deeper conversations than we've ever seen them before," says Smith. "It's not just simply like these two dudes [He-Man and Skeletor] have been trying to beat each other up for decades. We get to tell stories of abuse. We get to kind of tell stories of isolation, grief. We use these characters as long as they've been around — and most people consider them toys or action figures — to tell insanely human stories set in a very inhuman world."

Revelation will serve as a sequel to the classic '80s animated series, and has assembled quite a voice cast to continue the story, with Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man, and original Skeletor voice actor Alan Oppenheimer taking on role of Moss Man.

Check out the images at the link below.

Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Griffin Newman as Orco, Stephen Root as Cringer, Diedrich Bader as King Randor and Trap Jaw, Tiffany Smith as Andra, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress, Jason Mewes as Stinkor, Phil LaMarr as He-Ro, Tony Todd as Scare Glow, Cree Summer as Priestess, Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man, and Harley Quinn Smith as Ileena round out the cast.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation will be split into two parts, with the five episodes of Part 1 premiering on Netflix July 23. Let us know what you think of this first look at the show in the comments, and keep an eye out for that trailer!

I've been wanting to get into he-man, but none of the older series ever really grabbed me. Hopefully this one does. I love the old figures

@Saga - And the Galaxy Rangers too, maybe it's not as well known, but I loved it and I think a modern version in a tv show or a movie could be great.

Along with Thundercats one of the biggest cartoons of my childhood.
My Mum gave all of our toys to charity when we outgrew them, wish we had kept a few.
Especially my Lion-o figure.

Also can we get back those awesome intros.

@Waddles - especially since in Eternia the best form of abstinence is safe sex. Same as here.

Doesn't look bad. It'll have to do a lot beyond visuals and cast to get on She-Ra's level, though.
