David Gordon Green's Halloween was one of this fall's most welcome blockbusters, grossing over $251 million worldwide ($158.8M domestic; $92.2M foreign) on a modest $10 million production budget. The long-awaited horror sequel also scored the second-biggest October opening weekend ever and played a key part - along with Venom and A Star Is Born - in helping make this past October the highest-grossing October in box office history.

Following its Digital HD debut a few weeks ago, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially released Halloween on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD today.

Each copy will come packaged with a wide variety of special features, including seven tension-filled deleted scenes, an extensive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie, and four more lengthy featurettes to take fans even deeper into the legacy of Michael Myers.

Get all the details below and be sure to check back in later for my interview with Halloween legend Nick Castle, the original Michael Myers!

JAMIE LEE CURTIS RETURNS AS LAURIE STRODE TO SEEK HER REVENGE IN THE INTENSE THRILLER

HALLOWEEN

AVAILABLE ON DIGITAL DECEMBER 28, 2018
4K ULTRA HD, BLU-RAY AND DVD JANUARY 15, 2019
FROM UNIVERSAL PICTURES HOME ENTERTAINMENT
Universal City, California, November 20, 2018 – The infamous killer Michael Myers strikes again in Halloween, arriving on Digital and via the digital movie app MOVIES ANYWHERE on December 28, 2018, as well as on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-rayTM, DVD and On Demand on January 15, 2019. Hailed by critics as “a near perfect blend of craft, character growth and nostalgia” (Perri Nemiroff, Collider), Halloween takes place four decades after Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis, Halloween Franchise, “Scream Queens”) narrowly escaped the masked Michael Myers’ brutal killing spree. Packed with bonus features including chilling deleted and extended scenes as well as special featurettes showing behind the scenes looks at creating the film, Halloween delivers spine-chilling, hair-raising intensity and thrills to both new and repeat viewers.

Forty years after the events of 1978’s Halloween, Laurie Strode (Curtis) now lives in a heavily guarded home on the edge of Haddonfield, where she’s spent decades preparing for Michael’s potential return. After being locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when a bus transfer goes terribly wrong, leading to chaos in the same town he preyed on decades earlier. Laurie now faces a terrifying showdown when the deranged killer returns for her and her family – but this time, she’s ready for him.

Master of horror John Carpenter (Halloween (1978), The Thing) joins forces with director David Gordon Green (Joe, Pineapple Express) and producers Jason Blum (Blumhouse), Malek Akkad (Trancas International Films) and Bill Block (Miramax) for this follow up to Carpenter’s 1978 classic horror film. Halloween also includes a stellar cast including Judy Greer (Ant-Man and The Wasp, Jurassic World), Andi Matichak (“Underground”), Will Patton (Armageddon, The Punisher), and Virginia Gardner (Project Almanac, “Runaways”). Proving “classics never die” (Mara Reinstein, US Weekly), Halloween offers a tricky treat for audiences both old and new. Halloween is the perfect slasher film, lauded as “hands down the best Halloween sequel ever” (Katie Walsh, Nerdist) and “immensely entertaining” (Eric Eisenberg, Cinemablend).

Awesome, can't wait to get this. Best horror movie of 2018.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Damn I really tried to like it but I thought it was terrible. Too much Mike Myers retelling, Laurie Strodes was barely in the film, and the ending is the same as each film. From the trailers I thought this will be their final confrontation like H2O was and H2O had a better ending. The only good thing are the long takes and the final scene where Laurie is searching for Myers in her house as it was tense. Completely overrated in my opinion thanks to SJWs.

The best horror movie in 2018 is either A Quiet Place or Annihilation. Honorable mentions are Overlord and Upgrade but those 2 are closer to sci-fi action thrillers.

@mastakilla39 - "Laurie Strodes was barely in the film" "Completely overrated in my opinion thanks to SJWs."

Yeah okay, can't even tell if you're trying to be funny or serious here. H20 is an inferior film in every regard, by the way. Sounds like Halloween just isn't the franchise for you.
And Annihilation is garbage. Talk about a terrible, disappointing, overrated film.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Halloween is garbage and is going to keep being garbage for another 20 years if they don't change its fomula. The ending of H2O is better because Laurie finally cuts off Mike Myers [frick]ing head and ends the franchise. Everything before that ending sucks worst than Halloween 2018 though.

Annihilation was great only people who are retards won't get it. Halloween is made for people who are too pussy to handle gore and have completely forgotten about the halloween franchise. It was boring as [frick] as most of the film just had retarded cops and teens talking about Mike Myers as if the audience doesn't already know who the [frick] he is.

You really come off as a highly intellectual individual. Sounds like you need some serious help. Delusion is no laughing matter. Good luck!

Iono you come off as stupid, there's no hope for you. I'll see you in the mental asylum chained up on a black/white chessboard. See you soon!

I really loved that movie, but it didn't scare me even once.

I don't know why, it's not because we live in a society where the limit in terms of gore and disturbing shit has been pushed so far that it's hard to be shocked by anything anymore, because a ton of other horror films scare me or stress me out without being hardcore. There were tons of parts in The Descent, for example, where I was so, so tense, because they managed to create that sense of claustrophobia, oppression, betrayal, with a great story/twist in the background. Halloween didn't have any of that. It was nicely filmed and full of fan service, but nothing about it was scary or surprising, or even interesting. To me at least. I really enjoyed it, but when it was over, I just thought "Hmmmm. OK, then." And moved on. Other movies are usually stuck with me for days.

Am I the only one in this?

@Asturgis - you are correct it didn't have original unsettling theme about him . i felt it did a great job of correcting everything outside of the original tho , with him picking them at random and his represents the boogyman. of course fear is subjective so things like that didn't spook me out comparable to films like The Thing or hereditary. i loved the new halloween personally but i do get what you mean in reference to scaring aspect. mainly that per your prospective some would finds this haunting but most in this society don't deem it as horrifying like in the 70's or 80's.

@Asturgis - Nah, I'm with you. The Descent is 1 of the best horror film ever made and Halloween is severely overrated. Only the scene where Laurie Strodes was searching for Mike Myers in her house was tense. The long takes of Mike Myers walking around were good but most of them were taken shot-for-shot from the original Halloween 1&2 so it's not totally original either. Love carpenters new soundtrack too.

I recommend Annihilation, Upgrade, and Overlord highly. I like Hereditary but you have to be in the mood to focus and have to like slow burn horror movies.

@Asturgis - I was on the edge of my seat, but it didn't scare me. That rearely happens anymore because the 'fear factor' is high for me.

@mastakilla39 - i thought overlord was ok , towards the end it really picked up . and i love annihilation , i felt it was more thought provoking than scary but that bear was a bit haunting. i have seen upgrade yet

Didn’t love this as much as I wanted to but the truth is a sequel to Halloween is very hard to do and even hard to justify being made in the first place, Micheal Myers was only meant to live on in the imaginations of the viewers after the last shot of the first movie, we know he’s out there but we don’t know what he’s doing

That being said, like a sucker I’ll still be in line buying a ticket for the sequel

Steelbook is on pre-order, have to wait till mid February I think! Loved most things about this film, one thing bothered me but it's a spoiler so I'll shut up.

Really solid movie. Short, sweet, and to the point. I was never really a fan of the Halloween films growing up, and I'm in the minority of enjoying the Rob Zombie remakes, but this I really liked. It wasn't necessarily scary, but it was a very well done brutal horror movie all the same.
