I'm gonna start by saying that I didn't go the theater to see this. A friend and I watched it bootlegged on the computer. That being said, the quality was pretty good, I just wish it was worth the time. Here is my review for Texas Chainsaw

Story: After the first massacre in 1974, the townspeople suspected that the Sawyer family were responsible. A vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer house, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family. Decades later a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from her grandmother. she decides to bring her friends along on the road trip to invesitgate her inheritance. On arrival she uncovers she has inherited a mansion but is yet to uncover the terrors that lurk in the basement below it.

Acting: The story itself is actually not that bad. It has potential. The acting, not so much. Surprisingly, the only person who wasn't a bad actor is Trey Songz. Everyone else including Leatherface himself, Dan Yeager fricking sucks. I kid you not. For being a theatrical film, more effort should've been put forth. I found independant horror flicks with bad acting to be better than what I found here.

Any scare or even just jump moments in this movie? Let me put it to you this way. I would find The Cat in the Hat (which I will get to later) to be a much scarier film than this.

Direction: It all goes back to the story. It had potential but it was very poorly executed. Why can't we get a scary slasher movie? I've never seen one before and unless you can get the audience to be fully invested into the film (Sinister is a scary movie, I've never been that scared watching a movie ever) there is no way you can get them to use their imagination and believe that what's going on in the film is actually happening. Story with potential but director, John Luessenhop doesn't excute this in even an okay way. Certain scenes you see in the trailer either happen early in the film or at the end.

Score: Nothing original here. Nothing to really be invested in to help the film at all.

Editing: This is probably one of the the only redeeming qualities for the film. The editing is good. The problem, they cut it down to an hour and a half. The SHORTEST hour and a half I have ever experienced.

Final Product: This was an hour and a half of my life I will never, EVER get back. Texas Chainsaw suffers from poor execution, bad acting and how they took on the character of Leatherface is just.. no. I can't even begin to try and say it because it's a disgrace to slasher films. Not to mention they changed his name to Jed Sawyer. I'm not gonna lie, I feel as if my I.Q has dropped from watching this. This movie makes both "The Cat in the Hat" and "Dude, Where's my Car?" look like Steven Spielberg movies or masterpieces. Which ever term you want to describe one of the greatest films ever (I speak in general here). This is by far the worst slasher ever and anyone who pays to see this film is gonna be sorely pissed and will NOT get their moneys worth. There are two upsides to the film. Footage from the original film is used at the beginning of the film and again, the editing (which is also one of it's great weaknesses). Don't see it in the theater, don't buy the dvd. Hell, don't even rent the damn thing when it's on dvd. Lionsgate gets a big f**k you from me. I want that hour and a half of my life back.
