Get ready for larger-than-life action as the Marvel Superhero bursts from comic book pages to the big screen in The Hulk! Eric Bana stars as David Banner, whose involvement in a freak lab accident exposes him to gamma radiation. As a result, whenever the mild-mannered man becomes angry, he transforms in to a huge, rampaging creature that destroys everything in this path. Banner's ex-girlfriend Betty Ross (Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly) believes that his father (Nick Nolte) may hold the answer o the desperate situation, but can she make the connection in time to save a terrified world? Hulk (2003) was directed by Ang Lee, from a screenplay written by James Schamus, Michael France and John Turman. The cast included: Eric Bana as Dr. Bruce Banner / Hulk, Jennifer Connelly as Betty Ross, Sam Elliott as General Thunderbolt Ross, Josh Lucas as Major Glenn Talbot and Nick Nolte as Dr. David Banner. The film grossed $245 million at the worldwide box office, against a budget of $137 million.

Hulk 03 is sorely under-rated. It's not the best superhero movie ever by any means, but it was very good.

It was trying to 'take the genre more seriously' years before Nolan perfected the approach with his Batman films. I give Ange Lee credit for trying in a world where the cartoony Raimi Spider-Man films were the gold standard.

i think its a great movie too.
it just needs about forty minutes edited from it.
i loved the dog scenes because they reminded me of the hulk comic .
Hulk was always in forests and woods avoiding man and falling out wi animals.

It is opinionated, to me it's better than the Avengers on a few marks. Hulk being an actual threat, better character development, a better villain, and a better version of Bruce. Avengers just has the better action and better CGI for the Hulk (still doesn't look that good though).

AGREED! It's funny but going back on a lot of the original Hulk comics, there is almost no humor at all. Stan Lee obviously wanted to make Hulk a serious character and I applaud Ang Lee for doing so in his film.

My fave hulk will always be bixby/ferrigno- but I like ang lees hulk.

Maybe a little too "heady" for a marvel audience.

Shit movie. I remember being very excited for this movie back in 2002-03 and being completely let down by how boring it was. It just dragged and dragged. The only decent part was the Hulk fighting the tanks part. That's it. The rest of the movie is dogshit.

@JamesMan Eh, there really just isn't much I like Hulk 2003. I get why some may like it, but I really just hate it. While Incredible Hulk from 2008 wasn't perfect, I still enjoyed it much more.

Not every hero needs to be a damn huckster. Hell, the last Marvel character that should be making jokes is the [frick]ing Hulk. That is where The Avengers failed with the Hulk, they tried to make him funny like Iron Man.

After repeated viewings, ive come to appreciate this movie a bit more over the years. It may not have been the Hulk movie fans wanted but it wasnt terrible either. I wouldn't mind Ang Lee directing another CBM soon.

"If you want to make Hulk bankable, you bastardize what he should be and make him like they did in The Incredible Hulk and Avengers. You take away the aspect that he is in fact a monster, you make it look like Bruce Banner is having fun and you add some slapstick so the audience can laugh when he says Hulk SMASH!

However, making him bankable is irrelevant to me. A movie or a character doesn't need to bank a billion for me to say "Yeah, that's dope". Give me the character the creator intended him to be, and Stan Lee intended him to be a character that blurred the lines between being a man and a monster. The fact the inspiration for Hulk is Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde says it all really."
