Despite
Marvel announcing last month that there would be two different cuts of the film; and that the Chinese version of the film would be tailored more towards the Chinese audience with additional scenes. A handful of bloggers have vented their frustration towards the international cut of the film.
Wang's role in the film has been described by bloggers as
"unnecessary" and as
"the walk-on of all walk-ons". Wang only appears in two scenes in the movie. The international trailer which featured several shots of China and Chinese actors was also said to be
"misleading"
In an interview with
The Hollywood Reporter earlier in the the month, Wang described his character, as
"a very complicated individual" and stated that the role was
"very challenging". "I don’t get a lot of scenes, but you have to convince viewers that [Stark and Wu] are friends from way back”. "It’s not like in other films when you can get to show that through a lot of interaction between the characters.”
