Chinese Bloggers Slam International Cut Of IRON MAN 3

Chinese bloggers who have watched the international version of the film, have voiced their dismay at the lack of screen time for Chinese actors, in particular Wang Xueqi who stars as Dr Wu in the film.

Despite Marvel announcing last month that there would be two different cuts of the film; and that the Chinese version of the film would be tailored more towards the Chinese audience with additional scenes. A handful of bloggers have vented their frustration towards the international cut of the film.

Wang's role in the film has been described by bloggers as "unnecessary" and as "the walk-on of all walk-ons". Wang only appears in two scenes in the movie. The international trailer which featured several shots of China and Chinese actors was also said to be "misleading"

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier in the the month, Wang described his character, as "a very complicated individual" and stated that the role was "very challenging". "I don’t get a lot of scenes, but you have to convince viewers that [Stark and Wu] are friends from way back”. "It’s not like in other films when you can get to show that through a lot of interaction between the characters.”

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3″ is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968.

“Iron Man 3″ is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing and Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

I'm really curious as to where these China scenes fit in. Saw the movie this evening and I can't think of where or when they'd fit into the plot.

You reap what you sow. Marvel.

Japanese don't know how to make a movie.

Now it's less screen time for Chinese actors. Not making the Asian market happy is the wrong step.

well they have a special chinese cut of the movie where they get extra scenes not shown in the cuts for the rest of world, too much dictation from one country, they really need to get over themselves.

Ok I agree about the shut up China but how hard would of been to give them more screen time if they are good Chinese actors?

Hey China...create your own characters & movies.
Oh wait, all you do is take other existing ideas & steal them.
Go eat an egg roll suckers.

Ok..Americans have the best comics & movies but egg rolls are pretty darn good.
Plus,Americans have allowed the Chinese to profit on our ideas because we are greedy a-holes.

Im chinese and find China's comments ridiculous. The guy playing Dr. Wu is an extremely good actor though and kinda wasted his talents with those two scenes i guess. But really now, wheres the love for the asian american superheroes? :(

Americans and their blind irrational and xenophobic hate for China and the "Commies".
Disgusting. I'm Honestly glad i didn't make the decision to move to America instead of where i am now. You'd probably be sitting in your Mobility Scooters, wearing your Beer dispensing hats and shouting "'Murica!" at me while throwing your 78th hot dog at me for being brown. Yikes.
