Shortly after we got the news that Zack Snyder would be given the opportunity to return to Justice League and deliver his original vision for the DC Comics super-team, reports indicated that most, if not all of the main cast would return for reshoots. However, it's now come to light that Jason Momoa didn't actually film any new scenes, despite his character, Aquaman, having a much more substantial role in the story.
During an appearance on the Tonight Show, the Game of Thrones alum said it might surprise fans to learn that he didn't take part in any additional photography for the "Snyder Cut."
“The cool thing about that four-hour piece is that I didn’t reshoot anything,” Momoa told host Jimmy Fallon. “That was all there. It’s funny when people come up to me and say, ‘I loved this! It was so detailed and explained so much.’ And I say, ‘Yeah, that’s what we meant to do.'”
“I love Zack and [the entire film] is kind of what I signed up for eight years ago; to have his vision," he added.
We knew that a lot of what Snyder originally shot before he stepped away from the movie never made it to the theatrical cut, and this just goes to show how butchered and pieced-together "Josstice League" really was.
Momoa is set to reprise the role of Arthur Curry for James Wan's Aquaman 2, which is now officially titled Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. The DC Comics sequel is set to swim into theaters on December 16, 2022.
