JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Gal Gadot Confirms That WONDER WOMAN Was Retconned After BATMAN V SUPERMAN
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice made it pretty clear that Wonder Woman chose to stop being mankind's hero for a number of years, but that didn't gel with what we witnessed in Diana's solo adventure...
In Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's revealed that Diana had all-but given up on humanity and only decides to enter the fray after careful consideration. However, the ending of Wonder Woman suggested that the character had accepted her destiny and was fulfilling the role of hero and protector.
So, the sequel will explain why Diana chooses to knock the superhero gig on the head then... right? Well, not according to Gal Gadot:
"We realized that actually, there is no way that Wonder Woman will ever give up on mankind. The reason why she left the island was because she wanted to make their life better and safer – they are her calling. So – I’m giving you a very honest answer – sometimes, in a creative process, you establish something that is not necessarily the right decision, but then you can always correct it and change it. So Wonder Woman will always be there as far as she concerns for mankind.”
A lot of fans figured this was the case, as it does make a lot more sense and is in-keeping with the character. Maybe we can just pretend that Diana was in a really bad mood for a few... umm, decades when we first met her in Batman V Superman?
