You know what pretty much confirms Martian Manhunter was never planned.

Supergirl.

Supergirl came out one year after Man Of Steel and it was only during filming of the pilot that they decided to use Martian Manhunter.

If Martian Manhunter was going to be used in a movie they would have shot them down on that idea. Remember Atom was originally suppose to be Blue Beetle but they didnt let them because of some movie plan. (Weird its finally happening but Ray is gone now so the change was completely pointless)
aresww3 - 3/19/2021, 10:43 AM
@dracula - it was a fan theory zack ran with.
dracula - 3/19/2021, 10:45 AM
@aresww3 - a fan theory that makes no sense with the character's history. Obviously sat out 2 alien invasions and a monster attack
MyCoolYoung - 3/19/2021, 10:58 AM
@dracula - don't forget he nudged Lois to get off her ass too
LlamaLord - 3/19/2021, 11:19 AM
@dracula - Well yea, Zack said he wanted GL for that sequence, but had to compromise with using MM instead. Tying him to be the General still kinda works.
dracula - 3/19/2021, 11:35 AM
@LlamaLord - the idea of Martian Manhunter posing as a general makes sense, but taking the character's history......it adds a bunch more questions
pucrepeap - 3/19/2021, 12:47 PM
@MyCoolYoung - I was bummed by that. Not only was it forced, and pointless for it to be mmh, but it diminishes the lois martha relationship, something that was very important in their grieving of clark
MyCoolYoung - 3/19/2021, 2:17 PM
@pucrepeap - it was a really bad moment. Only inserted so he can say that was planned all along and he could’ve just left the after credit scene.

An alien invasion was actively happening and he chose to get Lois out of grieving. Just a really bad decision
Chewtoy - 3/19/2021, 5:27 PM
@dracula - I took note that the summary of Snyder’s planned Justice League sequels never once mention Martian Manhunter, which makes it very unlikely that he was always planned for this film.
cocaegelo - 3/19/2021, 10:02 PM
@dracula - Yeah, The Martian Manhunter is forced on the movie.
First of all, if he's on earth he would showed before...Secondly it dimminishes Lois and Martha relationship and Third but not least: How the TV Counterpart has a much better design and CGI than the Snyder Cut?

@dracula -

"Obviously sat out 2 alien invasions and a monster attack "

Well that's just a stupid way of thinking when it comes to CBMs. Why do no other superheroes show up in solo films? Come on.
dracula - 3/20/2021, 1:52 AM
@nikgrid - Difference is that he is literally right there in the movie part of the main plot. Sends human soldiers, a reporter and a scientist to take out the machine and fight kryptonians, while he sits in a room.

He nukes Superman

He thinks its more important to get Lois out of her rut than help and only shows up after the conflict it over.

This is a guy with powers on par (possibly greater) than Superman and he did nothing to help, despite being a major part in the movies.

Might not be in his martian form that often, but at least the supergirl version gets off his ass and regularly helps, even when he was posing as Hank Henshaw.

Technically doesn't hurt the movies quality (or lack of) but it does hurt the character. Guy is a shapeshifter, wouldn't be hard for him to help and keep his identity hidden.
TheSavage - 3/20/2021, 7:25 AM
@dracula - what if in MOS and BvS it was the true general, who died inbetween films and MM took over his identity much like in Supergirl where MM takes over Hank Henshaw's?
dragon316 - 3/20/2021, 6:22 PM
@dracula - sounds like coincidence than theorie
dragon316 - 3/20/2021, 6:24 PM
@aresww3 - you do know movie scores and critics don’t make successful people who see movies make them successful transformers have bad scores but both sequels made billion back to back yes I like transformers movies
dracula - 3/19/2021, 10:38 AM
Once they start rebooting things, just keep things stand alone until the justice league movie
Amuro - 3/19/2021, 10:38 AM
Another tease is Darkseid talking about the Multivers. I wonder if The Flash will reference that in any way, despite Zack Snyder's Justice League not being canon to that film (sadly...).

Would be great if, rather than changing the past, Barry builds an alliance of heroes from the whole DC Multiverse in a Into the Spider-verse kind of way with multiple incarnations of the same heroes and some new ones, all united against Darkseid with the worlds of men, amazons and atlanteans from multiple universes besides them.
Amuro - 3/19/2021, 10:40 AM
@Amuro - A Multiverse Justice League from the Justice Leagues of all worlds.
bkmeijer2 - 3/19/2021, 4:04 PM
@Amuro - I picked up that mention too as a thread that can be followed up on.

Although ZSJL is pretty much the same movie as JL17, I can see them mentioning it as a different universe.

I'm not done yet, but so far I'm a little more convinced by Miller as Flash. Kinda starting to look forward to that movie too.
cocaegelo - 3/19/2021, 10:04 PM
@Amuro - Well Flash and Cyborg was messing with Multiverse when Barry from the movies met Flash from the TV - Multivese use explained hahah
