After his break out role in Kingsman: The Secret Service in February this year, Taron Egerton seemed destined for big things. For a while, it even appeared as if he was circling both the Spider-Man & X-Men franchises. Eventually, he settled with starring in Lionsgate's Robin Hood: Origins - a 'dark and gritty' take on the legendary archer, inspired by The Dark Knight. Yup...
It seems his casting has caused a few issues for Fox. According to THR, the studio are looking to start shooting Kingsman 2 in April, 2016. Origins' schedule appears to overlap with that of the sequel, and Fox aren't budging. Despite the fact that Matthew Vaughn & Jane Goldman have yet to finish their script, Egerton is contracted to a sequel, and so they have the upper hand.
THR have likened the scheduling conflict to the one Jennifer Lawrence experienced while working on both the X-Men and Hunger Games films simultaneously. That situation worked out for the best, so there's a chance Egerton will be able to feature in both his projects. If he does, he may star alongside one of Eve Hewson, Gaite Jansen, Lucy Fry or Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who are all reportedly in contention for the female lead role, per Deadline.
With Vaughn seemingly set to fit directing the sequel in around his busy schedule, Kingsman 2 looks like the more promising project at the moment. If Egerton is forced to drop out of one, which movie would you like to see him feature in? Sound off below!
