CBR got a first look at Mattel's second wave of DC All-Stars figures coming in the new year, which will include Superman and the Flash in their "New 52" looks, plus Red Robin and Supergirl in costumes from DC's previous continuity. According to CBR's interview with Mattel's Associate Marketing Manager for DC Universe, Young Justice and Superman toys, Danielle McLachlan, additional characters sporting their new costumes from DC's relaunched titles will be available in 2012 as well.

No Red Under/Over pants, No yellow belt. What's next?? I just hope they left the yellow 'S' on the cape. :/

[frick] Superman's panties.

But they seriously couldn't pick a better name besides "Red Robin"?
Im expecting someone to jump out and say "yum" whenever I read or hear his name.

Make me sick. How can you be a true Superman fan yet hate so hard on the outfit that has made him a legend the world over. Alot of comic fans started their childhood interest in comic books when they first put on their shorts, boxers or underwear on the outside a grabbed the closes thing they could use as a cape and pretend to be the biggest superhero that ever lived. Now that everyone has an issue, what now? If you want change, that fine it's how comics survive, but don't become [frick]ing assholes disrespecting a classic design that paved the way for ALL other superheros.

NextHero08@ I don't care what you or anyone says I am a true comic book fan but I have always hated those damn red trunks he wears because they look so dang silly. I understand they were there as a means to break up all the blue but that could have been done in a way better fashion. My opinion on those shorts doesn't make me disrespectful of a classic design. For the longest time I have thought that Superman and Wonder Woman both desperately needed certain aspects of their costume tweaked and changed.

Don't really like how Red Robin's(YUM) costume looks as an action figure.
It looks a lot better in the Arkham City Robin DLC

Haters of Superman's new suit. Haters of Superman's old suit.

Seriously, people who hate Superman's old look: I don't really care for the boxers on it or what ever they are either, but we do have to admit it's an iconic look good or bad. People who hate Superman's new look: Get over it. Move on. DC shouldn't change because because a few of you people are out there. You people are the reason why WW has no pants now. So yeah thanks a lot. :P But seriously if you don't like it, don't read it. I personally don't care much for the X-men films, but I learned that others liked them so I stopped hating on them because others did like them. So please stop ranting and raving about it. Because with this war between you people it's starting to be like this:

Your right it is a truly iconic look is normally the first thought that people have when it comes to superheroes.

I'm already sick of the new 52. I honestly wouldn't have any problem with a reboot, if that's what it truly was, instead of a reboot for some characters, while Batman/Green Lanterns story's got to remain intact, just because Geoff Johns doesn't want to see the stories that he just spent a couple years of his life working on, suddenly, not matter in the continuity.
I wouldn't even mind re-reading every sing characters orgigin again one more time, as long as it was the official, be all, end all origin, according to DC. The whole reboot just seems half-assed to me.
And the new costumes are the epitome of 'meh'.

just my 2 cents from an ol timer. my first comic was a superman title in 1972 and have been collecting ever since. I dont know what is going on with the new suit and the new movie but it is all looks like crap to me. I have stop collecting superman comics since jim lee changed the costume for Superman. Saw the orginal supes in 1978 and was blown away. The new movie looks like crap all ready.

Bryan Singer ruined the red trunks for me, essentially turning them into grape smugglers. I'll give this new look a chance.

@WellDrawn - I can't stand Geoff Johns. I want to ho back to a DCU where we only have one color on lantern. Emotional spectrum? WTF is that? "Will" is not an emotion! No wonder his GL script was such a disaster.

@TheAmarilloBlack - Yup, Superman's red trunks are iconic. End of story.

The Red Robin and Flash figures are cool but New 52 Superman looks lame. The Supergirl figure just sucks period.

I don't know why I am doing this, but I just felt like I want to weigh in.
I have been a fan of comic book, specifically DC, for twenty years now. My favorite character has always been Batman, and Superman has always been a close second.
Yes, costume changes happen all the time. I agree. Batman has changed his costume many, many, many times. However, Batman is a character that has gone from dark and gloomy, to fun and quirky, and back to dark and mysterious. His costumes have reflected that change.
Superman on the other hand has always been a light character. A pure good guy at his core.
The character has had some costume modifications in the past. Mainly minor ones.
And quite frankly, I don't mind it. The trunks are iconic, yes, but if getting rid of them is PURELY for design, then I guess I can tolerate it.
But.
If DC is slowly trying to make a darker Superman, then that is where I have a problem. Superman is, and always should be, a good, light, and cheerful superhero. That is who he is. Leave the gloom for Batman.
But, what do you all care? You have your own opinions. I'm just some random dude on the internet voicing his opinion to a bunch of people, half of whom seem to argue just for the sake of pissing off everyone else.
tl;dr
Supe's new costume isn't as good as the original in my opinion.
