First off, I wanna say this one is purely for fun. I don't expect this to ever get the movie treatment.

In my opinion, Tim Schafer is one of the greatest and most creative game designers in the business. Each of his games have a unique design, well written story, fully developed characters, and each one also stands out from the other: like you can play two his games side by side and they feel completely different.

Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts...

and Brutal Legend

Brutal Legend was released in October 2009. The game received positive in regards to its story and voice acting, however its length gameplay garnered mixed reviews. In the game, Schafer tried to do the impossible and combine the action game with the real-time strategy game. It was a good idea but it just came short.

Despite its positive reviews, the game did not sell well- a common trait among all his games: acclaimed game and poor sales. He just doesn't advertise them good.

The game also utilized a slew of Metal legends in cameo roles. Except for one, I didn't cast these cameos.

Cast: The central characters of the game. This does not include the side quest characters of the generic units.

Eddie Riggs is the hero of the game, and its playable character. During a freak accident at a concert, Eddie is transported to the Brutal Lands where he becomes the hero in a battle again demonic forces. As the story progresses, it is revealed the Eddie is actually the son of the human hero who rebelled against the demons last time, Rignarok, and the demon empress Succoria.

There are a couple reasons why I didn't cast Jack Black (who voiced Eddie in the game). This fan cast is for a LIVE ACTION film; Eddie is considerably built, whereas Jack Black is more heavyset. If this cast where for an animated movie, I would cast Black.

Momoa is an actor who gets pretty mixed reviews. The fan casting community casts him as the villain often (notably Bane). However, he has played the hero once or twice.

The only concern is that Brutal Legend is an action comedy. I have no idea whether or not Momoa has any comedic skills. But he looks the part...hell, he looks like he used to be a roadie. And he's also built and has the experience in action. And he's used an ax before (i.e. Bullet to the Head).

Ophelia is Eddie's love interest, as well as a tragic character within the narrative of the game.

Originally, my pick was gonna be Mila Kunis. She has a pretty hit and miss career. I felt Ophelia would be reminiscient of Kunis' role in Oz: The Great and Powerful. I liked the movie, but she didn't do good, she overacted.

I like Glau for this choice much more anyway. She's a great young actress who has the chops for action.

Lars is the leader of the human rebellion against the demons.

This role, besides being a heroic archetype, has to look good with his shirt off (because he only wears a vest). Luckily, Rhys Meyers can play into both of those parts. Usually, his roles are kind of dark, but I can't help but feel this would be perfect for him.

Lita is Lars' sister. After Lars is killed, Lita takes over as leader of the human rebellion.

I have to admit that I'm only familiar with Yvonne from the action series Chuck, but that should be more than enough convincing for this role.

Mangus is a loyal member of Ironheade. However, he is laid-back (lazy) and frightened easier than the hardened warriors.

This just had Sudeikis written all over it. He's a great comedic actor and Mangus is mostly a comedic role. Match made in heaven.

This is the only casting choice from the game I'm keeping, because it works so good. Even though, withing the game storyline, it's really only a bit part.

Based off Lemmy Kilmister, the Killmaster is a master healer who joins the human rebellion (which Eddie renames Ironheade).

I didn't cast Lemmy, because he's a musician, not an actor. I didn't see him in anything so I can't judge his skill as an actor.

McKidd is sort of a jack of all trades actor. Action, drama, comedy, he can do it all. That's why I cast him.

The baron is a tough guy who was camped out in the mountains until Eddie showed up. He and his fire barons join Ironheade.

This was hard because it's mostly a bit part. Even though Rosenbaum doesn't strike me as the type of actor do bit roles, this role is perfect for him.

Rima is the queen of the Zaulia; a race of Amazon-like warriors. They originally fought alongside Rignarok, and he taught them how to resist the powers of the sea of black tears.

First off, Ryan is HOT!!!! She's also a great actress. Nerd would recognize her from Star Trek: Voyager as Seven-of-Nine. Her drop-dead looks and acting talent would definitely help her in this role.

Antagonists: The villains Eddie fights throughout the story.

3

Lionwhyte is a human loyalist to the Tainted Coil (the demons). He believes that the humans and demons can coexist, and he betrayed Lars. During a skirmish, Lionwhite is killed when he's impaled by the shard of broken glass from a giant mirror.

I only ever saw Goss in Hellboy II: The Golden Army as Prince Nuada, and I thought he was good in it. Someone told me he was very hammy in his acting...and BOOM, I knew he was Lionwhyte. Because Lionwhyte is a very hammy character.

After being accused of a traitor, and being abandoned by Eddie, Ophelia roamed the world heartbroken. With nothing left to lose, she jumped into the Sea of Black Tears and was swallowed by it. She re-emerged as a demonic, broken hearted shell of her former self and led the drowned forces of the Sea: the Drowning Doom. Eddie eventually managed to save her in the end.

Doviculus is the demon emperor. After the first empress, Succoria, vanished, Doviculus took over as the emperor of the Tainted Coil. At first, he believed Succoria has returned to dethrone him. He killed Lars and reopened the Sea of Black Tears, even (appearing) to kill Ophelia. Eddie ended his reign of terror.

In the game, Doviculus was voiced by Tim Curry. So, I asked myself who could play the role like Curry, and also make it his own? Jones was the answer. He's played demonic and villainous roles before. He could even make a terrifying voice.

- Why not keep Jack Black as Eddie? The role was written with him in mind.
- I think Chris Hemsworth would've been amazing for Lars.
- I'd have kept Lenny Killmister.
- Doug Jones would be perfect for performing Doviculus, but I think Jeremy Irons would make an excellent VA.

All in all, a great cast. I might do a fancast for this as well!

-Like I said, I would have used Jack Black, but that choice was about the physicality mostly.
-I don't know if Lemmy can act. When he was in the booth recording his lines, I didn't know if he was acting or if he was playing himself.

Cool. I'll have to see it when you finish
